He launched the attack at a 4-star city centre hotel in Peterborough after he was asked by management to clear off the premises.

Staff urged him to leave the Bull Hotel, in Westgate on February 12 due to a separate incident.

After being escorted to an exit, the CCTV footage captures Poyning become violent as he launches his unholy attack.

Later in the video, the 45-year-old can be seen kicking the man while he is down on the ground.

The victim suffered a cut to his nose and bite marks to one of his fingers, according to cops.

Cambridgeshire Police were called to the scene, and Poyning, of no known address, was arrested.

After pleading guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm, he was sentenced to nine months in prison at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on March 10.

PC Jess Broome said: “Poyning’s behaviour was aggressive and intimidating as he lashed out with the bible and attacked someone who was simply doing their job.

“We won’t tolerate attacks like this on staff working in hospitality or the nighttime economy.

“I’m pleased Poyning has now appeared in court to answer for his actions.”
