THIS is the terrifying moment an out-of-control car appears to drag two cyclists down a street in a horror smash that killed one person and injured four.
The car has sparks flying as it speeds down the busy street in New York dragging the two victims, aged 33 and 28.
CCTV footage from the crash just after 8pm on Thursday shows pedestrians on West 125th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard diving for cover as the red car makes no effort to stop.
The cyclists were left lying in the bus lane, one of them was reportedly bleeding from the head.
The 28-year-old cyclist was later pronounced dead while the driver walked away unscathed.
Mobile phone videos show the street filled with emergency service workers.
One witness told the New York Post: “I seen two men laying there, they can’t move, face down, those were the two people who got hit on their bikes and dragged by the car.”
He added: “He hit the cars and he ran over people. One guy went up in the air, but the other two were dragged, until the car hit a police car.”
The witness, who wishes to be called C.B. said the driver of the Red Hyundai Tucson only stopped when they hit a truck.
A second witness who works nearby said one of the victims looked like they were sleeping while the other had blood pouring from his head.
They added that the driver appeared to be drunk.
The driver was arrested at the scene and has not yet been charged.
