They were everyone’s favourite pop couple in the eighties.
But 37 years later and Shirlie Kemp has revealed she is ‘really embarrassed’ by her husband Martin’s appearance on the I’m A Celebrity jungle this year because he is sharing details of their sex life.
The 63-year-old singer from Pepsi and Shirlie, told the Daily Mail: ‘I have been very embarrassed. Having to go out the next day and every day at the gym going “Ooo, Martin”. But it’s all good, I’m used to it.’
The singer and mother-of-two touched down alone in Brisbane Airport in preparation to greet her husband from the I’m A Celebrity bridge before the first elimination on Friday.
Her arrival comes after the Spandau Ballet guitarist, 64, made a crude admission about a sex position he and his wife used to get pregnant with their son, the BBC One Show presenter, Roman, 32.
After Sunday’s show Roman voiced his outrage and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing a meme of Homer Simpson pouring chemicals into his eyes and wrote: ‘My dad talking about “wheelbarrowing” with my mum… Banter aside, wtf.’

Roman Kemp has been a vocal cheerleader as his dad Martin takes on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! But the TV and radio star has been left mortified by his dad’s latest camp antics
During Sunday night’s episode Martin led the group in some very racy campfire chat, revealing the sex position that he and his wife, Roman’s mum Shirlie Kemp, used to get pregnant (Martin, Shirlie and Roman pictured in 2023)
The former Capital Breakfast presenter placed third when he went on the show in 2019, after Jacqueline Jossa.
Mrs Kemp, who will spend the next couple of weeks in Queensland while she waits for her husband to exit the show, commented on his admission last week he was considered as James Bond but Barbara Broccli eventually picked Pierce Brosnan.
She said: ‘He would have made the best James Bond ever, the most handsome one, I think.’
Describing their wedding day to his campmates, he said: ‘I got married in St Lucia on a clifftop overlooking the Caribbean with just three people’.
He joked the ceremony was so basic ‘if you looked into it more you’d find we’re not married!’
Giving the secrets to his long-standing marriage in the Bush Telegraph, Martin said that the bedrock of their relationship was friendship, gushing: ‘Shirlie is everything for me, everything I do in my life, I do it for her.’
The couple met back in the 80s after Martin laid eyes on Shirlie while she was performing as half of Wham!’s backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie, on Top of the Pops in 1982.

A year after Martin and Shirlie tied the knot in St Lucia, they welcomed their daughter Harley Moon, 35, into the world in 1989, followed by the birth of son, Roman, in 1993 (seen in 1998)
They previously revealed that it had been George Michael who got them together, after he played cupid for them.
Recalling the start of their love story to the Daily Mail in 2019, Martin said: ‘I’d seen Wham! on Top Of The Pops singing Young Guns, and I couldn’t take my eyes off Shirlie. I thought she was the most beautiful woman I’d seen.
‘Two weeks later we were at some VIP screening and there she was. I gave her my number, but she didn’t call me for three weeks.’
Shirlie defended herself, saying: ‘It wasn’t because I didn’t want to call. He was this big pop star and I was scared he would be a proper pop star. He was so good-looking.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
