But that didn’t stop Norway’s future queen, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, from enjoying a very low-budget shopping expedition in Sydney’s inner-west over the weekend.
The 21-year-old, who is currently studying at the University of Sydney, was spotted perusing the vintage racks on Newtown’s iconic King Street with some girlfriends, looking very casual in sweatpants and a tank top.
Looking like any other shopper, Ingrid added a satchel handbag, blue jumper, white sneakers and a pair of sunglasses to her off-duty look.
The future world leader completed her ensemble with gold stud earrings and several chunky rings.
Embracing student life like a local, the thrifty princess was seen sifting through several op shops and picking out some pre-loved pieces, including a cosy-looking red sweatshirt.

The royal was also spotted visiting Mitre 10, where she picked up a packet of Blu-Tack, perhaps to use while decorating her new university dorm room.
At one stage, Ingrid was seen joking around and hugging her gal pals on the street.
Ingrid, who is second in line to the throne after her father, arrived in Australia in July.
She posed on campus for a series of photos that she uploaded to Instagram.
The Royal Household’s full statement from Ingrid read: ‘I’m looking forward to starting my studies at the University of Sydney.
‘It will be exciting to become a student, and I’m looking forward to gaining new perspectives on both European and international politics.
‘I’m sure that I will learn a lot.’

While she is certainly adjusting to Australian party life, Ingrid appears to still be getting the hang of Aussie road rules.
She was recently spotted making a slight slip-up when she and a female friend tried to hop into a waiting Uber from the wrong side.
Evidently used to left-hand drive vehicles, the princess was seen reaching for the door handle on the driver’s side.
Her parents, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, also joined her in Sydney earlier this month.
Ingrid’s decision to move to Australia to continue her studies came after she embarked on military training at the Engineer Battalion in Brigade Nord last year.
Ingrid is the granddaughter of Norway’s reigning monarch, 88-year-old King Harald V, and stands second in line to the throne, following her father, Crown Prince Haakon, 52.
She marks a milestone in Norway’s history as the first female heir to the throne.
The monarchy’s wealth is believed to fall somewhere between $30million and $100million.
