SINCE falling head over heels for each other when they met on Love Island in 2019, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have firmly remained in the limelight.
But there’s one secret family member who has kept a low profile through the highs and lows of their very public relationship – and that’s Tommy’s mum, Chantal.
Chantal, who is from Mauritius and shares two sons Tommy, 26, and Roman, 28, with husband John Fury, who she married in 1989, is “super shy and incredibly private” and is “not keen on fame at all,” a source claimed, speaking to Fabulous.
So it came as quite the surprise when Chantal made a very rare public appearance alongside her husband John and Tommy’s brother Roman, who is also a boxer, to show her support for Tommy at the Manchester premiere of his new BBC reality series last week.
“I think it would’ve been a big deal for her to be pictured at the launch of the Tommy doc, she’s not keen on fame at all, unlike John, who loves it,” a source claimed.
“But after everything Tommy’s been through in the last year she wanted to show up and support him.
“I can’t imagine she’ll do too much more of that, she’s happy to stay behind closed doors.
“I’m not sure what her relationship is like with Tyson and Paris, but given he’s John’s boy, I imagine they’re quite close. Family is key for those guys.”
The boxer’s new tell-all documentary ‘Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury’ offers a glimpse into the 26-year-old’s life behind the cameras, including fatherhood to daughter Bambi and career as a professional boxer.
But while Chantal may have walked the red carpet at the promo – her first public appearance in years – she doesn’t feature in it, unlike many of his closest family members.
Despite Chantal opting to steer clear of the cameras, Tommy, who has half siblings – Shane, John Jr and Tyson – whom his father John shares with first wife Amber – has spoken highly of her during previous TV appearances.
“I owe everything to my mother, I wouldn’t be sat here right now if it wasn’t for her,” he said, during an interview on Loose Women in November last year.
“She never went out on the town, she qualified in her degree, there was always a meal on the table.
“She didn’t have money to put fuel in the car, but she would still take me to the gym.”
‘Super shy’
The only other time Chantal, who is the second wife of Tommy’s father John, an ex-professional boxer, has appeared in front of the cameras was when she and John surprised son Tommy in the Love Island villa in Majorca, Spain.
Delighted to see her face as she walked into the villa alongside Molly’s mum Debbie Gordon and sister Zoe Rae, a shocked Tommy enthused: “This woman has not been on a plane in 16 years!”

Approving of his blossoming romance with Molly-Mae, 26, Chantal told him on the show: “I’m so proud of you.”
With Tommy coming from a famous family of boxers, his half-brother Tyson and dad John are more than used to being in the spotlight.
But it seems that the opposite can be said for Chantal, who may well be harbouring a secret pain – her desire for her family to be out of the limelight altogether.
That would explain why deciding to step into the public eye having kept a low profile for so long would’ve been a big deal for Chantal.
Despite being proud of her children’s achievements, shown by the fact she turned up to the screening of Tommy’s tell-all documentary, it appears that his “incredibly private” mum wants to avoid being a “part of the media circus.”
A source claimed: “Tommy absolutely worships his mum, but she’s super shy and incredibly private and doesn’t want to be a part of the media circus.
“I think her showing up on Love Island might have put her off, all the cameras, the lights, the people – it’s not her scene at all but she wanted to show her support.
“To be honest I reckon Chantal would prefer if the whole family were out of the limelight but equally she’s really proud of her kids and she dotes on Bambi.”

In August last year, Tommy and Molly, who were considered one of Love Island’s biggest success stories, shocked the nation when they revealed they had split, which was blamed on Tommy’s boozing.
In January the boxer said: “We broke up because I had a problem with alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be any more.
“It kills me to say it, but I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink.”
They sent the rumour mill into overdrive when they were spotted sharing a kiss on New Year’s Eve – and they finally confirmed they’d got back together during a family trip to Dubai in May with their two-year-old daughter, Bambi.
And while Molly’s sister Zoe Rae expressed her scepticism about the couple’s reunion in documentary ‘Molly-Mae: Behind it all’, Chantal has reportedly always been rooting for the couple.
That’s because, according to a source, the family “pride themselves on loyalty.”
Something which Chantal has proven over the years after sticking with husband John when he was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in 2011 for gouging a man’s eye out in a brawl in 2010.
He was handed an 11-year sentence.
‘Soft spot’
“She would’ve been very upset over Tommy and Molly’s split,” a source claimed.
“In that family they pride themselves on loyalty and sticking together – Tommy would have felt a lot of guilt over the fact he couldn’t initially make it work.
“All his mum wants for him is a stable family life. So she’s well on board with Tommy and Molly giving it another go.
“Either way, she stays close to Bambi. She’s a brilliant gran and Molly massively respects Chantal.
“Chantal has a big soft spot for Molly as well, although she would prefer if they weren’t quite so public with everything.
“Tommy would make sure regardless of his status with Molly that Chantal sees Bambi.
She’s actually a really nice lady, but she’s tough. She’s very no nonsense and her family means the world to her

“She’s actually a really nice lady, but she’s tough.
“She’s very no nonsense and her family means the world to her. “
And it seems the feeling is reciprocated, with Tommy and Molly both posting the occasional Instagram post about Chantal.
Just months after Bambi was born, Love Island star turned business owner Molly shared a heartwarming snap of Tommy’s mum cradling their daughter and penned: “Granny’s birthday.”
‘No nonsense’
In another post, Tommy treated Chantal to a day out for Mother’s Day and wrote: “Love you mum. Without you, there is no me.”
But while Chantal likes to remain firmly behind the cameras, Molly-Mae and Tommy are forever in front of them.
Just last week Molly-Mae hit the headlines after revealing she turned to ChatGPT for parenting advice after daughter Bambi, two, bit another child at nursery.
The influencer told how she had been left confused after her sister Zoe Rae said Bambi shouldn’t be taken for ice cream after the incident.
“It’s the complete opposite of what I want my child to be,” Molly said.
TOMMY FURY’S BBC3 DOCUMENTARY BOMBSHELLS

TOMMY Fury’ BBC show The Good, The Bad, The Fury has hit screens. Yet what are the key snippets?
“Equally she is two and a half and she is testing boundaries. Also it’s hard because at their nursery their way of disciplining is that they don’t really discipline.”
Following her sister’s comments, Molly told how she didn’t want Bambi to think that being taken out for ice cream was a “reward for bad behaviour.”
In her latest vlog, which was posted on YouTube, she admitted she turned to ChatGPT for advice, despite realising some people would find it “controversial.”
