SCOTT MCTOMINAY and Fikayo Tomori were pulled apart after squaring up during a feisty Supercoppa Italiana semi-final.
Reigning champions Napoli met Coppa Italia runners-up AC Milan in Riyadh.
With Napoli leading 2-0 via goals by David Neres and Rasmus Hojlund, things threatened to turn ugly late on.
After McTominay committed a hard foul on Christopher Nkunku, the Scot initially didn’t realise that the whistle had blown and attempted to carry on.
As the ex-Manchester United star attempted to dribble away, Tomori was having none of it.
Despite play long having been pulled up, the former Chelsea defender came steaming in, wildly booting the ball.
Tomori’s follow through then saw him bump into McTominay, who didn’t take kindly to the contact.
The furious midfielder immediately squared up to Tomori, bumping him back before several other players surrounded the pair.
McTominay, 29, was dragged away by team-mate Lorenzo Lucca.
While Tomori then clashed with Napoli centre-back Juan Jesus, even appearing to move his head towards the Brazilian’s at one point as the pair jostled, before eventually being separated by the referee.

When things calmed down, the official brandished yellow cards for both McTominay and Tomori, who is celebrating his 28th birthday today.
Napoli had taken the lead in the 39th minute, when Man Utd loanee Hojlund smartly teed up Neres for a close range tap in.
Hojlund was a frequent threat, and got himself on the scoresheet just after the hour mark – spinning Koni De Winter before firing a perfect finish into Mike Maignan‘s bottom corner.
The late flashpoint between McTominay and Tomori didn’t knock Napoli off their stride, with Antonio Conte’s side booking their place in the final.
Lying in wait will be either Bologna or Inter Milan, who face each other in Riyadh this evening.
After the game, Napoli released a club statement accusing Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri of a “completely out of control attack” on staff member Gabriele Oriali.
A club statement read: “SSC Napoli firmly condemns the behavior of AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri, who, during the Italian Super Cup semifinal, in the presence of dozens of people pitchside and on live television, repeatedly and severely insulted Gabriele Oriali with offensive language.
“We hope this completely out of control attack does not go unnoticed, especially since, with 33 cameras involved in the event’s production, it is impossible not to witness what happened.”
AC Milan have not yet publicly responded to the allegation.
