Last month three celebrity recruits who passed this year’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins have were revealed; X Factor star Lucy Spraggan, convicted drug smuggler Michaella McCollum and ex-professional footballer Troy Deeney.

The final phase saw the recruits handed over to interrogators for the most intense part of the course, with drag queen Bimini Bon-Boulash and Love Islander Adam Collard falling at the final hurdle.

Announcing that Lucy, Michaella and Troy had passed during Sunday’s final, chief instructor Billy Billingham said: ‘This course is designed to push you through barriers you would never imagine. To strip you back, physically, mentally and emotionally. This course is brutal. Our world is brutal.

‘It will always come down to one question that we will ask ourselves. Would we have that person stood next to us.

‘Number 3, 4 and 10. Congratulations, you have all passed this course. Well done. Seriously guys, good effort, that was a tough, tough course.’

Straight after hearing the news, Lucy said ‘I can’t believe it,’ to which Billy responded: ‘Embrace this moment. It’s yours. You did so well.’

Michaella said: ‘Thank you so much. I didn’t think I’d make it here. That was traumatising.’ Billy replied: ‘Your kids will be proud.’

She then turned to her fellow recruits: ‘We all getting matching tattoos, then?’

Troy laughed and Lucy said: ‘Oh, yeah, I am. I’m definitely getting one…’

‘Freedom!’ Lucy added.

Reacting to her pass, Lucy said: ‘I couldn’t believe it, to pass, wow, incredible. I felt so emotional. It was about 9 million times worse than I thought it was going to be, and I thought it was going to be bad. I really did!

‘It’s utterly traumatising, but unbelievably rewarding. It’s a once in a lifetime thing because I will never do that again!’

Meanwhile Peru Two’s Michaella said: ‘I couldn’t believe it when they said I’d passed, I just started crying, we all did. I really surprised myself. I didn’t expect that. I didn’t have any intentions of making it to that point, so when I did, I was really proud. I was like, yes!

‘Anyone thinking about doing it, 100% do it. Forget about all the horrible and difficult stuff, those type of opportunities don’t come very often in life. And you’ll really get to see a completely different version of yourself, and the real, true you, which we disguise and we compress with everyday life, we forget who we really are, so do it!’

Lastly former footballer Troy Dean added: ‘What an experience! When I saw it was just me, Lucy and Michaella, I thought we were the ones who hadn’t made it. What a relief! Unusual word, but cathartic, that’s how I’d sum it up. Brilliantly mind-boggling.

‘I’d recommend it for everyone. But you have to go in curious. Are you curious about who you are? Are you able to go in free and take instructions? At the very start, hoods off, stood on a pier, waves crashing, rain, DS Billy looking at you like he’ll kill you.

‘That’s when you’d quit if you didn’t want to be there. That broke a few early. It didn’t break me.’

Elsewhere Simon Cowell made a surprise appearance on the Sunday night’s episode of the Channel 4 show.

The X Factor judge, 65, appeared via a video call to support Lucy, 34, who rose to fame on his show back in 2012.

One of the tasks from the latest season saw the recruits jump from a moving speedboat onto a helicopter.

Simon asked Lucy during their call: ‘How’s my little trooper?’

After laughing, Lucy admitted: ‘It’s been a lot rougher than I anticipated. Simon, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.’

Simon replied: ‘You do look tired, I’m not going to lie.’

Lucy went on to detail some of the many challenges she has faced on the show and said it is far from ‘a joke’.

She said ‘Like, you know when you said you might think about doing it if I didn’t find it hard? You would not be doing it.

‘Although I would pay such money to see you do it!’

Simon laughed: ‘Just imagine it was me, and how long I would last.’

The pair struck up a friendship after meeting on the X Factor over a decade ago and have grown increasingly close over the years.

Simon and Lucy are so friendly that he actually walked the singer down the aisle during her recent wedding to Emilia Smith.

Lucy told The Sun: ‘He read a poem at our ceremony, which was cute, and he said to me, “I love seeing you this happy”.’

The former X-Factor contestant and her wife are also regularly asked to visit Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman at their homes in LA and the Cotswolds.
