1 Up DeChambeau/Young vs Fitzpatrick/Aberg
Would you believe it.
Bryson’s approach on the 3rd finds the right rough beside the green while Aberg is in the heart of the green.
Fitzpatrick’s putt burns the edge of the hole, Young with a bump and run from off the green finds the bottom of the cup and they now also go 1 Up!
Hole 1: 1 Up English/Morikawa vs McIlroy/Fleetwood
Wow wow wow. McIlroy with a stunning little shot from the rough, popping the ball out and towards the hole before a horror lip out keeps it up! A full 180 as both Rory and Tommy almost walked it in!
English follows that in and sinks the testing putt for birdie and a 1Up lead!
The US side both birdie the opening hole – maybe they are up for the fight after all….

Michael Jordan is here right behind the 1st tee and shares a nice moment with his pal Luke Donald, who takes his wife and daughter over to say hello.
Bryson gets the crowd going, cupping his ears and pumping his fists. And a monster drive down the 1st is followed by Young sticking it right by the pin… but Aberg silences the fans in the grandstand as they watch the Swede sink his putt for birdie.
Then comes the pantomime villain Mr McIlroy.
Those X-rated chants return but the Masters champion, playing his eighth Ryder Cup, is so used to this…
And he loves it – blowing a kiss and stretching his arms out to lap up the abuse.
His wayward tee shot only adds to the atmosphere here.
Hole 1 – English/Morikawa vs McIlroy/Fleetwood
Fleetwood from deep in the crowd plays down to the green but just right, into the rough to the right of the green.
Morikawa in a better position strikes over the top of the pin and brings it to a stop around 12ft from the hole.
