FORMER Chelsea star Jody Morris has revealed that Frank Lampard did not have a single discussion with club chair Roman Abramovich during his time as manager.
The revelation was too much for Prem icon Joleon Lescott, who labelled the behaviour “insane.”
Lampard boasts the second most Premier League appearances ever for Chelsea, behind John Terry.
But his certified legend status did not help him break the ice when he was brought back to the club years after his retirement in a new role as head coach.
Lampard stepped away from the club in 2014, but was hired half a decade later to steady the ship after Maurizio Sarri departed as manager.
But according to the former England man’s assistant coach Morris, 47, Lampard had no contact with club chairman Abramovich during his 18-months in charge between 2019 and early 2021.
Instead the assistant and former Blues midfielder claimed that club director Marina Granovskaia was the one running show.
Morris, who followed Lampard when he made the switch from Derby County to Stamford Bridge, opened up on their communication issues on the All Out Football podcast.
He said: “(Lampard) never had one conversation with Roman (Abramovich) the whole time he was there.
“The whole time when we went back there, Marina was running the club.

“Frank Lampard, he’s the manager of Chelsea, he never had one conversation with Roman as manager.”
Reports at the time of Lampard’s dismissal made similar claims, and reiterated Granovskaia’s importance in the club hierarchy.
A stunned Lescott chimed in: “You’re saying that now, I’m thinking’ that’s insane.”
But Morris only doubled down on the claims, adding that the lack of communication : “He had conversations when he played for Chelsea, but then you come back as manager and they didn’t have one conversation, and he wanted to.”
Lampard led his side to fourth in the Premier League and to an FA Cup final in his first season in charge.
But his results took a nosedive in his second season, being sacked in January after picking up just two wins from nine fixtures.
Despite their apparent lack of contact during his tenure as manager, Abramovich released a heartfelt message upon his sacking and praised their “excellent personal relationship.”
He wrote: “This was a very difficult decision for the club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, the board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as head coach and wish him every success in the future.”
