The bodyguard involved in the hotel incident that left Jude Law‘s daughter in tears was looking after pop star Sabrina Carpenter and not Chappell Roan, the Daily Mail can exclusively reveal.
Pascal Duvier, 53, sparked outrage when he ‘aggressively’ confronted Ada Law, 11, for approaching singer Roan during breakfast at the exclusive Tangara Palace hotel in Sao Paulo.
Jude’s daughter Ava was staying with her mother Catherine Harding and stepfather, the Brazilian footballer Jorginho, at the luxury hotel when she recognised Roan having breakfast and simply smiled as she walked past, without approaching or asking for a photo.
Duvier intervened and aggressively told the little girl to stay away from Roan.
The bodyguard – who once worked for Kim Kardashian – broke his silence overnight to blame an incident at the hotel the previous day for his heavy-handedness and also admitted he was not working for Roan – but was ‘at the hotel on behalf of another individual’ – who was ‘Manchild’ star Sabrina Carpenter.
Both Carpenter and Roan were staying at the luxury hotel while they performed at the Lollapalooza festival in the Brazilian city.

Footage posted online clearly shows thick set martial arts expert Duvier guarding Carpenter as she leaves a Sao Paulo restaurant ahead of her appearance last Friday and she posted pictures from inside the Tangará Palace hotel herself.
Duvier ignited the controversy after he told Ada and her mother Catherine off for smiling at Chapel Roan during breakfast – with Catherine later posting on her social media about the incident suggesting he was part of the Pink Pony Club’s security team.
Catherine claimed the guard had accused them of harassment and warned he would report them to the hotel – leaving Ada in tears.
Jorginho seemed oblivious to Carpenter’s links to Duvier when he took to social media and said Ada recognised Pink Pony Club singer Roan while eating at a nearby table and walked past her, smiled, then went back to her seat without saying anything or asking anything of her.
‘What happened next was completely disproportionate,’ he wrote.
‘A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people.’
Indeed, it appears that the family were totally unaware of Duvier’s connection to Carpenter because they happily attended her gig at the festival the night – and boycotted Roan’s concert after what happened
‘This was Ada’s reaction yesterday when we arrived to see @sabrinacarpenter,’ Catherine wrote alongside footage of her daughter smiling during Carpenter’s set.
‘Our daughter decided she didn’t want to go to the show tonight after how we were treated… so, instead, we had a girls’ shopping day and then went out for dinner together.’
‘Thank you all for the kind messages – everything is fine!’

In his statement Pascal said he was at the hotel looking after ‘another individual,’ who is now revealed to be Manchild singer Sabrina, after providing security for her earlier this year
Roan herself later posted on social media that she had knowledge of the incident and the guard in question was ‘not part of her personal team’ as she expressed regret over the incident and insisted she has ‘zero tolerance’ for such behaviour toward fans.
‘Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security office,’ a spokesperson for the star said on Monday.
‘She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them.’
‘Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behaviour towards her or her fans.’
In a statement posted onto his Instagram account Duvier said: ‘I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of anther individual, and I was not part of the personal security of Chapell Roan.
‘The actions I took where not on behalf of Chapell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.
‘I made a judgement call based on information we obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior and the heightened overall security risk of our location.
‘My sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter was respectful.’
Carpenter and Roan are good friends and performed a duet of the Wham hit Last Christmas in a 2024 Netflix holiday special.
While in an interview with music magazine Rolling Stone, Carpenter praised Roan and said she was ‘obsessed with her’ and that she had her songs on ‘loopty loop’.
She added: ‘It’s so weird when you’re hanging out as two young women as opposed to thinking about when she goes on stage and is that person and when I go on stage.’
Carpenter also covered Roan’s song Good Luck, Babe during a BBC radio 1 Live Lounge session at Maida Vale studios in 2024 and both have praised each other and performed at the same festivals.
While Roan praised Carpenter’s album Short n’Sweet naming Taste and Juno as her capture tracks.
They also share the same Island Records label.
Carpenter hired Duvier, who stands 6ft 4in tall, last year and he was by her side on her UK tour – and prior to that, the controversial security guard was Kim Kardashian’s key protector but he was fired in 2016 after she was robbed while staying in Paris.
Following the £7 million heist, Kardashian’s insurers later sued Duvier for gross negligence, but it was settled out of court in 2020 – although his California based firm Protect Security went bust, he is still working as close protection.
The Espresso and Please, Please, Please star has had previous incidents with her security – in 2024 during a Radio 1 road show one of her guards whacked a fan in the face with an umbrella as she was surrounded.
Following the incident in Brazil, Carpenter flew to Colombia for a concert and is now believed to be back in the United States where she is due to perform at the Coachella music festival next month.
In her last public post on Instagram three days ago, following the gig in Colombia, Carpenter posted a photo of herself sitting on a wooden chest in a white shirt with a flower in her mouth.
She said: ‘Now we run home to see you soon in the desert. Thank you to my amazing band, dancers, crew and team for making these some of the most special shows X
‘And that you for all the sweetness you showed us South America. Your love is like no other.’
