A BAN on the resale of tickets for live events above the cost price will be brought in by Ministers in a big win for consumers.

Reselling a ticket above fave value will be banned as part of a major crackdown on the practice.

It would be a major blow for firms such as Viagogo and StubHub.

Coldplay, Dua Lipa and Radiohead have been some of the major artists who have campaigned on the issue to stop the high prices.

Touts are understood to have cost music fans £145 million in hiked prices.

The move comes after tickets for Oasis during their summer dates hit £4,000 on resale sites.

Plans are also being drawn up to cap fees charged by resale sites, the Financial Times first reported.

It will mean that the price limits being brought in will not be wiped out by added ticket costs.

The action is an attempt by Ministers to ensure it’s illegal to sell on tickets for music or sporting events for more than the purchase price.

The intention is to end touting where bots are deployed to buy swathes of tickets.

The government has been approached for comment.
