Turns out, as much money as those Biden bozos blew through, prepaying for electric buses up front that were never and will never now be delivered?





…“There was $160 million that went to a Canadian electric vehicle bus manufacturer. The Biden administration sent all of the money — They gave all the money up front. Well, guess what? They just declared bankruptcy. 

They still haven’t provided $95 million worth of school buses to 55 school districts. It’s the American taxpayer that gets screwed.” 

Wonder who from the Biden administration was on the take?

Sometimes, after a little time has passed, you have to wonder if it wasn’t the hand of God saving you from an even worse mistake.

That’s kind of what I’m thinking right now, after GlobalTrvlr sent me a video this morning from one of our favorite mutual YouTube accounts. It’s one that I rarely have time to check in with.

It was The Stache, and he had a quick update on Canadian electric vehicle firm Lion Buses. If that rings a bell, it’s because that’s the very same company that POTATUS handed over all that schweet cash to, which vaporized when they declared bankruptcy.

…None of this seemed to bother the cash-happy climate cultists in the Biden administration, who continued to shower the floundering enterprise with American taxpayer dollars while saddling school systems with ill-considered and soon-to-be-worthless yard ornaments, as no – they won’t be servicing those warranty complaints.

The Biden administration awarded Canadian electric bus maker Lion Electric $159 million to manufacture 435 school buses between 2022 and 2024, making it the third-largest recipient of such funding. The company has since fallen into bankruptcy, failed to deliver hundreds of the buses it promised, and warned school districts that its dire financial straits prevent it from servicing those in circulation.





It’s also the same firm that had delivered some buses to lucky American school districts, which those same school districts were now finding couldn’t be repaired. So these already cash-strapped districts were having to fire up the diesel bus, Gus.

…The company has since fallen into bankruptcy, failed to deliver hundreds of the buses it promised, and warned school districts that its dire financial straits prevent it from servicing those in circulation.

As a result, many of those districts are turning back to diesel.

It’s also the bus company whose Canadian school district buses have experienced three spectacular flame-outs. As in flames shooting out of them. 

Thankfully, they got the kids off safely.

According to Stache, Lion buses in the Quebec school system were on their third fire of the school year – YOICKS – and that’s when the school district pulled every last one of them out of service for inspections.

 

Of course parents were worried about their children’s safety first and foremost, but it’s also a scramble when it happens with little warning the night before a school day and there’s no district alternative to get you kid to school.

Authorities in Quebec are really catching it as they gave Lion the – dare I say it – lion’s share of the school bus contracts for the province. So when those buses come off the road, getting kids to school becomes a province-wide nightmare.

The abrupt withdrawal of 1,200 Lion electric school buses from the roads in Quebec is prompting renewed criticism of the provincial government’s approach to electrification — and of its decision to give one local company a virtual monopoly.

Many school bus routes in Quebec remained cancelled Monday and Tuesday — see list of cancellations below– following the government’s decision to pull all Lion buses out of service after a bus in Montreal caught fire last week.

Lion has sent instructions to school bus operators for the required inspections and repairs, apparently related to possible wiring issues. Three Lion buses have caught fire in the last year, though nobody has been injured and the buses’ batteries were not involved.





They believe the problem is in a shoddily assembled heating system.

No worries in a Canadian or New England winter!

Climate ciltists still hell bent on electrification are missing the forest for the flaming buses. Oooh, they worry – parents might ‘have concerns’ about the fires. They hope the bus-b-que will ‘push the province’…

…Valérie Tremblay, co-coordinator of the Canadian Electric School Bus Alliance, said the fires will “clearly discourage” school bus operators from switching to electric vehicles, both for their own interests and because school boards and parents may have concerns.

She’s hoping the issue will push the Quebec government to revise the criteria for its electric school bus subsidies, which until now have ensured that the majority of electric buses sold in the province are made by Lion.

“Perhaps … allowing other manufacturers to sell their vehicles in Quebec will give the transition a second wind,” she said.

…to buy more electric buses but from different manufacturers.

How about deep-sixing them and the electric mandate altogether in favor of something proven and reliable?

Thank goodness they’re not depending on Ms Tremblay for any policy decisions. It sounds as if the bus system operators are sick of dealing with the government-mandated electric nightmare, too.





…In May, amid Lion’s financial woes, the Quebec government scrapped its requirement that all school bus purchases be electric. Andrew Jones, a Montreal-area school bus operator, said he has since cancelled orders for 20 new Lion buses, and has ordered diesel buses instead.

He said the eight Lion buses he already owns are unreliable, in part because when they break down, it can take weeks to get the necessary parts or technicians from Lion. “We’re subject to waiting on them 100 per cent of the time,” he said.

Jones also pointed out that the Quebec government has reduced annual financial support for operating the electric buses from $12,900 to $5,000 per vehicle. “That makes a huge difference for an operator,” he said.

In a statement Monday, the Quebec federation of bus operators said the withdrawal of the Lion buses is the latest in a “chaotic sequence of events” that began with the government’s 2021 mandate.

For months, we have been warning the government of the consequences of this rushed electrification,” said president Chantale Dugas. “Our carriers are at their wits’ end in the face of constant reversals and a climate of instability.”

Parents have to check their kids’ school Facebook page to find out whether they need to drive them to school each day. Swell, huh?

I sure hope they figure this out before the company goes under for good, as they’ve basically sold their souls to Lion.

…These buses cost 2-3 times the price of comparable diesel bus. The most common Lion Electric LionC and LionD models range from $300,000-$350,000 while the diesel versions range $140,000-$160,000. 

But don’t worry, it’s not our government is pushing EV mandates or anything right…

If I were one of the U.S. school districts that had received even one of these, I’d be on the horn with someone from Lion pretty damn quick.
