A RAPIST who has dodged deportation since 2009 is in line for compensation because wearing an electronic tag made him “depressed”.
Lawyers will discuss the “appropriate relief” Mustafa Taskiran should be granted.
High Court Judge Mr Justice Lavender found in his favour days before the Turk admitted stalking another woman and threatening her with a knife — while he was being monitored.
He awaits sentence this month.
It follows a life of crime that began in 1994, four years after Taskiran, 48, was granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
He committed 54 offences in the next decade and survived a deportation order in 2009, before he was caged for six years and nine months for rape in 2014.
A deportation bid again failed on his release in 2018 when Turkish officials revoked his nationality and refused to issue travel documents.
He has worn a 24-hour tag since then and is on immigration bail.
Taskiran told the High Court it was heavy and uncomfortable and caused him “intense physical and mental distress”.
Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: “I don’t care about this man’s so-called depression.
“And nor do the British people.”
The Home Office said: “When foreign nationals commit serious crimes we do everything in our power to deport them.”
