VLADIMIR Putin is provoking the West to make Nato look weak and divided.

If that is the case, so the Kremlin hopes, Ukraine will despair and America may walk away faster.

Putin doesn’t want World War Three but does want to conquer Ukraine, dominate eastern Europe and rebuild the Soviet empire.

He can only do that by fracturing the alliance and eroding resolve.

By attacking Poland with drones he wants to drive a wedge between hawks and doves over how Nato responds.

Those strikes followed others that damaged the British Council and the EU headquarters in Kyiv.

Putin then hit Ukrainian government buildings for the first time in the war.

Right now, after being feted by Donald Trump and China’s Xi Jinping, he thinks he’s winning.

There’s no sign of the “severe consequences” Trump has threatened for Putin’s failure to concede an inch towards peace.

Nato’s must now meet steel with steel and a good first step would be to declare all Russian drones hostile threats and shoot them down over western Ukraine, or as large an area as possible.

If Nato dithers, or does nothing, Putin wins.

To all the world he will look untouchable and Nato a paper tiger.

DRONES STOP PLAN

BRITAIN will mass produce interceptor drones to shoot down Vladimir Putin’s Shahed weapons.

The tech, called Project Octopus, is specifically designed to shoot down Iran’s inventions, despite being ten times cheaper than them to make.

The MoD vowed to make thousands a month from a tech-sharing deal on the drones with Kyiv.

A spokesperson said: “Interceptor drones are proving to be highly effective in countering the waves of one-way attack drones Russia continues to launch at Ukraine.”
