No, really. Republicans have to tone down the rhetoric because calling people “fascist” is dangerous.
You can’t make this excrement up.
JUST IN: Illinois Governor JB Pritzker says it is dangerous for the Trump administration to call the Democratic Party “fascist.”
“This is about sowing fear and intimidation and division among Americans.”

Pritzker is repeating the Democratic Party mantra that Trump is threatening democracy, because that tactic has worked so well for them up to now. About that, we should not be in the least surprised.
But it is rich that Pritzker and other Democrats are complaining that Trump is using words like “fascist” to describe Democrats. Given that every other word a Democrat says is a version of fascist–Nazi, Gestapo, “existential threat to democracy,” or some other variation–you would think they would find a different thing to complain about.

But, I suppose, we shouldn’t expect better. These people think Jimmy Kimmel has excellent writers.
Pritzker, you may have noticed, upped the ante in another way: he is suggesting that Trump will do something to threaten the 2026 elections, which is an escalation from their implication that he will cancel the 2028 presidential election.
Last I checked, the only people who tried to throw a presidential candidate off the ballot were in the Democratic Party, but perhaps my recollection–and Google–are wrong about that one.

One does benefit by paying attention to the wild accusations Democrats make about Donald Trump’s dark plans. They are invariably a tell regarding what Democrats themselves are doing or plan to do. Censor people? Check. Lawfare? Check. Send the TSA after their political opponents? Check. Abuse the intelligence “community” to destroy opponents? Check.

It’s hard to believe that J.B. Pritzker regularly makes it to the top of the lists Democrats put together when considering presidential candidates. While his presence is, I suppose, imposing, in his case, that is hardly a good thing. He is extreme on every 80-20 issue, including immigration, trans issues, crime, and health care.
But there it is. Given that Pete Buttigieg is seen as a front-runner, Pritzker’s inclusion on the list shouldn’t surprise us. And you have to admit that the visual contrast between him and Gavin Newsom would make for an interesting debate.
In any case, I doubt Pritzker’s criticism of Republicans using the word “fascist” to describe them will stick, given their frequent use of the term themselves.
Ironically, while there are many communists in the Democratic Party these days–they are the dominant faction among the activists–the “fascist” label applies pretty well to the more mainstream Democrats. Jonah Goldberg, before TDS hit him hard, wrote an excellent book on the subject, for which I will be eternally grateful and inclined to forgive him much.
They are corporatists who use government power to silence critics, employ Brownshirt tactics through aggressive violent “protests” and an alliance with Antifa, and aggressively divide the populace based on racial and ideological categories. They are not Nazis, leaning much more into the Italian version of fascism, but any fair comparison would reveal a lot of similarities between Mussolini’s version and the Democrats’.
The big difference used to be that Mussolini loved war, and Democrats did not, but that difference has evaporated of late.
Americans, though, don’t tend to think in such terms, and with good reason. Our political culture, at least until recently, tends to hew more towards the center than either right or left. It will take a while for average Americans to fully grasp how off the rails the Democrats have become.
Until then, accusations of extremism hurled by either party will land with a thud. Partisans on both sides may be motivated by them, but it takes hard experience for most people to change their assumptions about either party. Trump has reshaped the Republican Party and how people view it, but Americans are still, slowly, waking up to how insane the current Democrats really are.
It’s happening, though, and no complaint by Pritzker or anybody else will hide the fact that the Democrats have truly gone around the bend.
