In her witness statement, Ms Griffiths said the Duke of Sussex sent her a friend request on Facebook in 2011 and gave her his number.

Ms Griffiths — a diary reporter at the time — said they partied together at mutual pal Arthur Landon’s flat in June the following year.

She said: “Arthur hadn’t made it home by the time that I arrived but told me Prince Harry was staying at the flat and that the party had already started under Prince Harry’s watch.

“He told me that Prince Harry would let me in if I made it there first.

“The music was loud and they didn’t hear the doorbell, so Arthur advised me to call and text to be let in.”

Harry, 41, is one of seven high-profile claimants suing the paper’s publisher.

They allege journalists hired private eyes to hack them.

Associated Newspapers strongly denies it, arguing the claimants had “leaky” social circles.

The trial continues.
