A Primark shopper was startled to spot a mouse scurrying around inside a pillow bag at a Birmingham store.
The furry critter was trapped inside the packaging of a £12 memory foam pillow at Primark’s flagship store in Birmingham city centre on Tuesday.
Giorgio, who filmed the moment, said he raised the alarm with staff after making the unsettling discovery – and claimed they were just as shocked as he was.
The Italian, who now lives in Moseley, said he was stunned when he first spotted something moving inside the transparent sealed plastic packaging.
He said he left the high street store feeling that he must ‘wash everything’ he buys in future, even if it is wrapped up.
Giorgio said: ‘One more customer saw it and he laughed and walked away.’
In the short clip, the mouse can be seen rushing around the bag, seemingly trying to find a way out.
A second video shows the rodent on the loose in a store before it leaps into a nearby basket filled with more pillows.

It had somehow got inside an apparently sealed bag for a £12 memory foam mattress
When the mouse was eventually liberated from the packaging, it went on the loose around the shop floor and jumped into a pillow basket
Giorgio added: ‘The mouse went in there and there were sweet wrappers inside that he was eating.’
He said the mouse appeared to be nesting in the area.
‘There was a small box underneath the cushions and that was where the mouse made his nest,’ he said.
Primark told the Mail it was taking ‘urgent steps’ to address the issue.
A spokesperson for the company said: ‘We expect all our stores to operate to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, and we are concerned to hear of this report.
‘We are taking urgent steps within the store to address this with minimal disruption to customers and colleagues, but in the meantime, we are open as usual.’
