A PRIMARK shopper was left baffled after they spotted a mouse scampering inside a pillow bag.
The rodent was sighted scurrying around inside the item’s £12 memory foam packaging at the discount chain’s store in Birmingham City Centre last week.
The shocking moment was snapped by shopper Giorgio, who swiftly informed staff of the discovery.
Following the find, the Italian punter vowed to “wash everything” he purchases in the future.
“One more customer saw it and he laughed and walked away,” he said.
The unsettling clip shows the critter desperately trying to escape the transparent packaging.
A second piece of footage snaps the rodent hopping into a basket after its successful escape.
Giorgio continued: “The mouse went in there and there were sweet wrappers inside that he was eating.
“There was a small box underneath the cushions and that was where the mouse made his nest.”
Primark assured punters it was taking “urgent steps” to ensure the incident isn’t repeated.
A spokesperson for the company told the Mail: “We expect all our stores to operate to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, and we are concerned to hear of this report.
“We are taking urgent steps within the store to address this with minimal disruption to customers and colleagues, but in the meantime, we are open as usual.”
The Sun Online has reached out to Primark for comment.
It comes just weeks after a popular bakery chain abruptly shut up shop at one of its locations following a severe rat infestation.
East Bristol Bakery in Bristol pulled the plug on operations in December after “trade dropped significantly”following the incident.
“We’ve had to close the doors at East Bristol Bakery,” the statement read.
“And in the last month a significant infestation at our Old Market site forced us to halve production and close the bakery.
“This created a financial hit of tens of thousands of pounds out of the blue, and ultimately made the business unsustainable. It is now going into liquidation.”
“Despite all of this, our team has continued to produce exceptional work. I am incredibly proud of them – their skill, their commitment, and the care they put into every single product.
“I’m so sorry that we’ve not been able to keep the business alive.”
