A prep school teacher in Michigan has been charged for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student and then bragging about it to a colleague.
Jocelynn Sanroman, 26, of Pontiac, was arrested on Monday over accusations she had a sexual relationship with the teen boy, who was a student at Oakside Prep Academy charter school about 30 miles outside Detroit, in August 2023.
She was charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a student in the third degree.
Sanroman was busted after telling a co-worker, who turned around and reported her to authorities, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office said.
‘This defendant is accused of using her position of authority to exploit a minor victim,’ Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald said in a statement.
‘These allegations represent the ultimate breach of trust placed in educators by parents and the community.
‘As a former teacher myself, I applaud the teacher who contacted police about this situation, protecting other students from further exploitation.’
On Oakside Prep Academy’s website, the school touts is ‘Moral Focus program,’ ‘which helps students grow into well-rounded individuals who can discern and appreciate the difference between right and wrong.’
Sanroman was arraigned on Monday and is expected to appear before a judge for a probable cause hearing on July 10.

The teacher was booked into jail the same day and released on $20,000 bond, records show.
She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
‘At this time, we would like to emphasize that our client is presumed innocent,’ one of her lawyers, Colin McLaughlin, told Daily Mail. ‘We very much look forward to having our day in court.’
The Daily Mail contacted Sanroman and Oakside Prep Academy for comment.
Last month, a Catholic school teacher in neighboring Ohio was sentenced to three years in prison and five additional years probation for having sex with a 17-year-old student at a school in Cincinnati.
During the case, the court heard evidence of sexual messages the teacher, Emily Nutley, 43, sent the teen.
In one, she wrote: ‘What would be wild is that when the whole school is at Mass, I give you the best f**k of your life in my office.’
Nutley and the boy wound up having sex several times from November through December 2023, at least once in her office at the all-boys school after hours.
