MATT LE TISSIER has made a sensational return to Southampton four years after quitting his previous role at the club.
He stepped down back then following a social media storm.
The Saints legend, 57, had been working as a club ambassador before stepping down in April 2022 after facing backlash over posts he made on X, including controversial comments about the war in Ukraine.
High-profile figures such as Gary Lineker and comedian David Baddiel publicly criticised him at the time.
But Le Tissier is now back at St Mary’s in a fresh advisory role on the board, according to the Daily Echo.
He will work closely with the club’s football department, offering his vast experience to aid decision-making.
Reports suggest he had already been helping the Saints informally before his official return.
Le Tissier’s playing career was spent almost entirely at Southampton, where he scored 209 goals in 462 appearances between 1986 and 2002.
He is also the club’s all-time top Premier League scorer with 101 goals in 270 games, becoming the first midfielder to reach a century of goals in the competition.
After leaving the Saints, he had a brief stint in non-league football with Eastleigh before retiring, having won eight caps for England.
