BARGAIN hunters are rushing to Poundland after shoppers spotted autumn-themed mugs going for just 50p in a huge online closing sale.
The deal was shared by customers across the UK, with many stocking up before the retailer shuts its website.
One user posted on Facebook: “50p each Poundland online before it closes.
“I run an outdoor playgroup and managed to get 10 of each for the children to use for hot (luke warm) chocolate.”
Another said: “Missed out on this gutted.”
A third added: “They are awesome.”
One shopper typed: “You can also use it as a plant pot.”
Others even tagged friends so they wouldn’t miss out on the deal.
The mugs, which come in autumn-inspired designs, have been a big hit with shoppers looking to cosy up their kitchens without spending a fortune.
It comes as families continue to feel the squeeze from rising costs, with even small seasonal treats adding up.
This isn’t the first time Poundland’s bargains have caused a stir, with previous sales sparking a rush online and in-store.
And they’re not the only shop slashing prices on spooky treats.
B&M is flogging a Cream Pumpkin Lamp for just £6, giving shoppers a cosy autumn glow without breaking the bank.
Home Bargains has also jumped in with Halloween-themed Peelerz Gummies for only 99p, while Matalan stunned shoppers by rolling out its Halloween range as early as July, packed with mugs, blankets and pumpkin-print dishes.
Discount giants Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and Asda are also stocking shelves with cheap costumes, sweets and decorations as families hunt for purse-friendly ways to celebrate.
Safety advice for parents about Halloween costumes
The ROSPA has advice for parents around Halloween costumes and children’s safety…
- Check that all Halloween and fancy dress costumes you buy carry a UKCA or UKNI mark on the label
- As with all clothing, Halloween and fancy dress outfits should always be kept away from fire, lit candles and all other naked flames
- If lit candles are part of your celebrations always follow their safety guidelines, and remember:
- Always supervise children and pets if using lit candles
- Do not allow children to carry, play, reach over, light or be near lit candles
- Never leave a burning candle unattended
- Remember always to extinguish a candle completely after use
- Take care when using candles at Halloween. Do not carry pumpkins with lit candles inside, consider using battery-operated candles instead
- Children should always be supervised by a suitable adult
- If fireworks are part of your celebrations, follow the Firework Code (see our fireworks safety page for more information)
- Be aware that homemade fancy dress costumes or those not tested to the same flammability standards may ignite easily and burn quicker
- Ensure children can be seen in the dark; ideally they should wear something reflective such as a reflective strip, and carry a torch.
