Police hunt man in his 50s after woman reports attempted rape at cinema

Police are hunting a man in his 50s after a woman was ‘seriously sexually assaulted’ in a London cinema.

A woman in her 30s said the alleged assault happened in a cinema in South Hampstead at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, June 11.

Metropolitan Police say they have specialist officers supporting the woman following the claims of sexual assault.

They have also released an image of a man they say ‘they wish to speak to’ following the report of the incident.

The man is believed to have left the venue and headed in the direction of Swiss Cottage.

He is described as being in his 50s and around 5ft 6in with a slim build.

He has dark hair on the sides of his head and was captured on CCTV wearing a North Face coat and glasses following the alleged offence.

Detectives say they are looking to hear from anyone who knows the man or believes that they saw him.

Their website reads: ‘If you decide that you don’t want to be involved in an investigation, making a formal statement can still be helpful. Every report is valuable to us.

‘We’ll support you throughout the process and will offer to refer you to specialist support.’
