The heartbroken boyfriend of missing teen Pheobe Bishop has revealed the worrying last call he received from her before she vanished on her way to see him.
Pheobe, 17, was en route from her rural hometown of Gin Gin near Bundaberg in central Queensland, to visit her high school sweetheart in Western Australia on the morning of May 15.
As she was being driven to the airport, Pheobe rang her boyfriend – but he was unable to hear anything before it cut off.
The youth – who Daily Mail Australia is not naming because of his age – told friends that he did not realise anything was wrong and went to the airport to meet her as planned.
But hour after hour, he waited in vain at Perth Airport terminal as flight after flight arrived without her on board.
Queensland Police are ‘quite confident’ that Pheobe didn’t make it to the airport as she never checked in for her flight.
Her housemates James Wood and Tanika Bromley told detectives they gave her a lift in Bromley’s Hyundai ix35 SUV, which was subsequently seized by police and declared a crime scene.
Both have since been charged with unrelated weapons offences.

The garbage-strewn home in Gin Gin – where Pheobe had been staying in recent weeks – was also sealed off and forensic experts combed every inch, inside and out.

No charges have been laid over Pheobe’s disappearance and Daily Mail Australia does not suggest that Wood and Bromley were involved in her disappearance.
The couple’s garbage-strewn home in Gin Gin – where Pheobe had been staying in recent weeks – was also sealed off and forensic experts combed every inch, inside and out.
In Western Australia, Pheobe’s childhood sweetheart has told friends how he blamed himself for her disappearance.
The couple had reportedly dated throughout their high school years in Queensland before his family relocated for work. They had only recently rekindled a long-distance relationship.
On May 16, the day after Pheobe was last seen, the teenager shared two haunting quotes to his social media account as he struggled with his guilt over her no-show.
‘Maybe I deserve all the pain I am feeling right now, I mean it is my fault, I should have done better,’ he posted the day after his girlfriend disappeared,’ he wrote.
‘Me staring at her dry texts wondering if I did something wrong and not asking cuz I don’t wanna be annoying.’
Pheobe’s bank account has not been accessed since May 14 and her social media remains untouched. Her phone switched off shortly after the last call to her boyfriend on her way to the airport.

Her housemates were questioned by police as the search for Pheobe gathered momentum.
Bromley, 33, was charged after weapons were allegedly found in the SUV.
She was already on bail after police had allegedly earlier found a sawn-off shotgun and flick knife in her car in February.
Her bail was renewed on Tuesday and she was released after facing court.
Queensland Police confirmed on Wednesday night that Bromley’s partner Wood, 34, was also charged with unrelated weapon offences on Sunday.
‘Police have charged a man with weapons offences, after police allegedly located a shortened firearm and ammunition during a search of a grey Hyundai ix35 and a Gin Gin home, both of which had been declared crime scenes for an unrelated matter,’ a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
Wood was charged with one count each of unlawful possession of weapons Category D/H/R (short firearm) and authority to possess explosives.
He was issued with a notice to appear before Bundaberg Magistrates Court on June 13.

On May, 16, her boyfriend shared two haunting quotes to his social media account clearly struggling with his emotions.

The devastated teen was waiting at the airport to welcome Phoebe
Phoebe had been looking forward to her 10-day trip to Western Australia and excitedly told a friend about her plans on May 12
‘I’ve been better but I focus on the good s***,’ Pheobe said in response to a friend checking in on her.
‘I take of (sic) to WA in three days! Get out of this s**t home for a bit so that will be good, just packing atm.
Asked how long she was going for, Pheobe replied: ’10 days beautiful x’.
Pheobe’s mum Kylie Johnson said her daughter’s disappearance was completely out of character.
‘Pheobe would never not touch base with the people she loves,’ she said.
‘She would never go this long without contacting someone or anyone.
‘We are appealing to anyone who may have heard from Pheobe, or anyone who has information about where she may be, to please contact police.’

Police scoured the Goodnight Scrub National Park for several days with cadaver dogs

On Wednesday, cops confirmed they had now suspended the hunt there
Police launched an intense search for Pheobe in a nearby bushland area, scouring it for several days with cadaver dogs – but on Wednesday, cops confirmed that was at an end.
‘The search at the Good Night Scrub National Park has been suspended,’ said a police spokesman.
‘Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of inquiry.
‘In addition to investigative work, physical searches will continue as needed and as information is provided.
‘The greater Gin Gin area remains the focus of the investigation.’
