Pedro Pascal lookalike contest crowns shock winner… and fans are all saying the same thing

Pedro Pascal fans were left stunned after the winner of a lookalike contest for the It Ends With Us star was crowned on Sunday.

Pedro Pascal fans were left stunned after the winner of a lookalike contest for the alaUs star was crowned on Sunday.

A father named George Gountas – who is the spitting image of the actor – won the grand prize of $50 and a year’s worth of burritos for his resemblance to Pascal.

Gountas had certainly got the Pascal memo as he donned the star’s signature black rimmed spectacles and muscle flashing tank top to take photos with delighted fans.

The event took place at Del North Mexican restaurant in New York City‘s Lower East Side neighborhood on Father’s Day.

‘When we saw this [contest], I was like, “It’s Father’s Day. You have to go. It’s going to be your Father’s Day treat,”‘ George’s wife Jenny Gania told the New York Post.

She said it was over ten years ago when she and her family first recognized the 50-year-old actor as her husband’s doppelgänger.

‘It started when the Game of Thrones came out the first time — that’s when we first heard it,’ Gania recalled, adding, ‘Then some kids started noting it, too.’

Gania noted the irony of her spouse taking home the prize as she said, ‘It’s funny, because he’s not on social media at all. But now he’s going to be everywhere.’

30 other Pedro contestants descended on the Mexican food joint in hopes of winning the competition.

Son Del North chef and co-owner Annisha Garcia said the motivation for the contest stemmed from Pascal’s 2023 comment that there isn’t any satisfactory Mexican food in NYC, which he made during a Hot Ones appearance.

Quoting Pedro, Garcia said, ‘”I’m so sorry, but there’s no good Mexican food in New York”? We were like, “There is, and we are here.”‘

The restaurant’s other co-owner, Wim Shih, added that the goal of the lighthearted contest was to bring levity during tough times.

‘There’s just so much sadness in the world right now, and we wanted to be a bit of sunshine today amidst all that,’ Shih shared with the Post.

In the wake of the stunning victory, fans took to social media to proclaim ‘Is that not Pedro?’, ‘Crazy’ and ‘Is that not the real Pedro??@

On Sunday Gountas gleefully held up a life-size check written out to ‘Pedro #5’ written out ‘for being a Zaddy.’

Similar lookalike contests cropped up in the Big Apple in the fall, with crowds turning out to see Timothée Chalamet, Jeremy Allen, and Harry Styles dead ringers.

Pedro has not publicly acknowledged the event, but was active on social media Monday to promote his forthcoming film Eddington.

‘Meet the good people of #EDDINGTON. In theaters July 18. Written and directed by #AriAster,’ he wrote to his 11 million Instagram followers.

His latest movie Materialists, an R-rated rom-com with Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans, hit theaters on June 13.
