Paul Lim reveals Luke Littler’s uncanny likeness to when Tiger Woods burst onto the scene in golf

PAUL LIM reckons Luke Littler is as naturally gifted at darts as Tiger Woods was in professional golf.

Woods, 49, burst on to the scene at the 1997 Masters, which he won by 12 strokes in a record-breaking performance.

TV ratings increased and fans flocked to the course whenever the American golfing genius was playing, especially on the final Sunday of a major.

In total, he has won 15 major championship, three fewer than the record of 18 set by Jack Nicklaus.

Darts is enjoying its boom period, thanks to its impact on social media, and a huge part of that is down to the emergence of Littler.

The Nuke made the final two years ago on his debut aged 16 and then lifted the Sid Waddell Trophy in January 2025.

This year he won six PDC majors on television and also became world No1, leapfrogging Luke Humphries.

Lim – famous for hitting a nine-darter at the 1990 BDO World Darts Championship at Lakeside – has been involved in the sport since 1980.

The Singapore Slinger has seen it all during his career and the 71-year-old gave Littler enormous praise with his sporting comparison.

Lim told SunSport: “Honestly, when I first saw Luke Littler play, I kind of felt, ‘right, he is something which is so special’.

“I really do think that. I watch golf. I used to love to play golf.

“I watched when Tiger Woods came around and to me, Luke is just like a Tiger Woods of darts. A really special darts player.

“Why do I say that? It’s talent. Just natural talent. He’s gifted. You know, he’s special. That’s all.

“He’s not someone that learns to play darts mechanically, he’s just natural, flawless.

“Everything comes so naturally for him. That’s what he wants and does it well, that’s it.”

Lim – who faces Swede Jeffrey de Graaf on Saturday night at Ally Pally – was speaking at the launch of his Generation 9 Target Darts.

His will be using this equipment on his 28th appearance at a World Championship – PDC (15), BDO (12) and WDF (1) – since 1982.
