PARENTS are racing to get to their nearest B&M store, desperate to stock up on back to school supplies.
So if your little one is preparing to start a new school year next week, then you’ve come to the right place and won’t want to miss this.
There’s plenty of things that need to be stocked up on ahead of the start of a new term – maybe your little darling needs a school bag, a pair of shoes or, even worse, you’ve dug out their water bottle only to find the inside is completely covered in mould.
Well, if you’re strapped for cash and are already feeling overwhelmed with the huge list of things you need to buy, don’t worry, as B&M has got you covered.
One savvy shopper was left gobsmacked when browsing the shelves in his local store, when he spotted that a large selection of pencil cases had been slashed.
Thrilled with his finds, not only did George McKendrick stock up and buy seven pencil cases, but he also took to social media to alert others to the bargain buys.

Posting on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a private Facebook group with 2.6 million members, George uploaded a snap of his haul, leaving many open-mouthed.
Alongside his post, the B&M fan wrote: “If anyone is after pencil cases, all of these designs were 10p in B&M today.”
George then explained that while he had some difficulty using the B&M scanner app whilst in the store, he was incredibly pleased when he got to the till and found that his haul cost him just 70p in total.
The savvy shopper also added: “The usual barcode [gave an] unknown message on the scanner app but went through the till fine at 10p.”
Luckily for George, he was able to buy a variety of pencil cases that are sure to impress many youngsters.
He managed to nab a dinosaur pencil case, a sparkly pencil case and a camouflage pencil case.
Not only this, but he also got his hands on a Fuzzlets pencil case and an adorable Squishmallow pencil case too.
But parents will need to move fast if they want to nab one, as the cut-price pencil cases are being sold while stocks last.
How to save money at B&M
Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M’s scanner app.
The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.
The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.
According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.
Here’s how you can join the B&M bargain hunt:
- Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an App Store or Google Play.
- Once you’ve installed it on your device, click on the option labelled “more” on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
- You’ll then find an option that says “barcode scanner”. Click on this and you’ll open a camera screen.
- Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
- If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.
- You don’t need to sign up to the B&M app to use the barcode scanner.
And it’s clear that mums are eager to stock up, as in just 24 hours, George’s post has attracted a lot of attention.
Many social media users tagged their friends and loved ones to alert them to the cheap kids’ buys.
Meanwhile, one bargain hunter parent raced to the comments and said: “Will pop back later and look.”
At the same time, another asked: “Is that a Winston Squishmallow pencil case?”
To this, George wrote back and confirmed: “Yes, it’s fluffy.”
