But Microsoft Outlook now appears to be down in an outage affecting thousands of Britons.
According to Down Detector, issues began in the early hours of the morning and reached a peak shortly after 06:00.
Of those affected, 61 per cent of people report experiencing issues logging in, 34 per cent are experiencing server connection issues, and five per cent are unable to send emails.
In a post on X, Microsoft 365 wrote: ‘We’re currently investigating an issue.’
The company added: ‘We’ve determined the cause of the issue and have deployed a fix. We’re closely monitoring its deployment and expect the issue to gradually resolve as deployment progresses.’
However, Microsoft’s Service Status checker shows that Outlook.com is still experiencing issues.
The Service Status checker confirms: ‘Users may be unable to access their mailbox using any connection methods.’

As the issue began to affect users this morning, commenters flocked to social media to share their frustration.
On X, formerly Twitter, one commenter wrote: ‘Outlook seems to be down this morning – I’m unable to access any emails. Is there any information on when the service will be available again?’
Another wrote: ‘Outlook down right now? I have flight itineraries I need to access and work stuff that needs to be checked.
While another asked: ‘Is outlook down or is it just me?’
Meanwhile, several outraged users vented that Microsoft had not made information of the outage clear enough.
On Microsoft Outlook’s X page there is no mention of the outage, and the disruption was only confirmed by Microsoft 365 Status in a post which doesn’t name Outlook.
On X, one commenter asked: ‘Why aren’t you informing us publicly that outlook is down?’
‘Came all the way to X to find why Microsoft Email Service was failing. There was NOTHING there to tell me,’ added another.
One commented wrote: ‘Did you guys fire the social media manager that should be reporting on global outages to keep users informed?’
