ONE in 20 married women over 50 are prepared to pay for sex as their other half is a flop in bed, a poll has found.
As well as those hiring a pro to get satisfaction in the sheets, one in ten have pondered — or have had — an affair.


Almost seven in ten were unsatisfied in bed.
In 2022 comedy Good Luck To You Leo Grande, Emma Thompson’s character hires a sex worker after a life of boring sex.
As for blokes, half struggled to get an erection and 44 per cent concoct excuses to dodge sex due to the problem, says the poll by Vertica Labs.
Psychosexual therapist Lorraine Grover said differing sex drives may be the reason but it is usually an undiagnosed medical problem such as erectile dysfunction.
She said: “These findings highlight how intimacy can quietly fade in long-term relationships as couples reach midlife and beyond.
“Many assume desire naturally declines with age, but emotional closeness and sexual satisfaction remain crucial for a healthy relationship well into later life.
“When those disappear, it can leave partners feeling isolated and, sometimes, desperate.
“There are many reasons for these changes, and the hardest part is often simply talking about them.
“Issues might include differing sex drives but more often than not, it can be put down to an undiagnosed medical problem like erectile dysfunction —which affects half of men over 40, or hormonal changes which impact both men and women, particularly in middle life, impacting their libido and mood.
“Addressing these openly can help couples find solutions and ultimately save marriages and relationships from unhealthy decline”.
