That last time anyone heard from feisty Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis – she of the blockbuster election interference case against Donald Trump and 14 others, which kind of got derailed by an in-house romance with loverboy and special prosecutor Nathan Wade – was this past December. Willis lost her first round at the Georgia Court of Appeals. In their infinite wisdom, the justices there disqualified the Hotlanta number from prosecuting not only Trump’s case, but all of the others, although they did not dismiss the indictments.
Willis appealed, and in the meantime was left to spend the better part of the next year fighting off the building consequences of her imperial approach to running her office.
Ashleigh Merchant, the absolute tigress of a defense attorney whose investigative skills broke the unseemly story of Fani and Wade’s clandestine and illicit romance, was spending more time rooting into the legal basis of the overall prosecution. Proving political motivation for the indictments is critical because Merchant’s client is still one of the people under indictment.
Today, the Georgia Supreme Court rendered its decision on Willis’ petition to continue as the prosecutor in the Trump case and…declined to hear her pitiful pleas.
As a certain law professor I adore always says, ‘Heh.‘
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Tuesday lost her bid to get back on the Georgia election interference case against President Trump — who celebrated by calling her a “disaster.”
The embattled prosecutor was booted from the high-profile case in December by the Georgia Court of Appeals, which cited the “appearance of impropriety” over her affair with the special prosecutor Nathan Wade leading the case.
Georgia’s top court said Tuesday that it would not consider reversing a lower court’s ruling.
Trump cheered the decision on the White House lawn just before he departed for the UK – arguing Willis should be prosecuted.
SOMETIMES KARMA COMES STRAIGHT UP, WITH A LITTLE GREY GOOSE IN A CHILLED MARTINI GLASS
There is much gnashing of teeth ensuing. Some corners were seriously anticipating Willis being reinstated, and now this has blown ‘Get Trump’ as well as the associated cases all to bits.

Ashleigh Merchant’s client, Michael Roman, who originally hadn’t even been recommended for prosecution, seemed delighted to post the ruling.

Another defendant, Jeff Clark, is breathing a sigh of relief.
I’m pleased to announce that Fani Willis has now been permanently disqualified from prosecuting the indictment that she brought against President Trump, me, and many others.

…The Georgia Supreme Court denied cert to Fani Willis, who was attempting to get that Court to take her case, so that she could try to get un-disqualified after the Georgia Court of Appeals threw her off the case.
The case now moves to the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia. They will decide on a replacement for Willis.
Praise the Lord for progress in this case. It never should have been brought in the first place.
The replacement for Willis will decide if the process continues to move forward or is dropped completely.
…The chances of Trump facing prosecution are virtually zero since he’s president, but other defendants could still languish in legal trouble.
Trump and 18 others were indicted in 2023 in connection with an alleged scheme to illegally overturn Trump’s narrow 2020 loss in Georgia to Joe Biden under anti-racketeering laws.
“While I disagree with the decision of the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court’s divided decision not to review it, I respect the legal process and the courts,” Willis told The Post in a statement.
“Accordingly, my office will make the case file and evidence available to the Prosecuting Attorneys Council for use in the ongoing litigation. I hope that whoever is assigned to handle the case will have the courage to do what the evidence and the law demand.”
…The slim majority decision penned by Justice Andrew Pinson said the factors leading to Willis’ ouster were so specific and rare that the state’s high court shouldn’t take on the appeal and ultimately set a new legal precedent.
“Appellate decisions addressing attempts to disqualify prosecutors are few and far between, and only a handful of those addressed a claim that a prosecutor must be disqualified based even in part on conduct that created an appearance of impropriety,” Pinson wrote.
Still, the ruling appeared to acknowledge that prosecutors should be held to a higher standard than private lawyers.
‘Prosecutors should be held to a higher standard’ than regular lawyers? I would hope so!
So far, these Trump prosecutors have been nothing but self-aggrandizing bottom feeders in every state and case.
Another person charged in this ridiculous, politically inspired legal persecution is planning on going after the DA’s office for legal fees.
My lawyer just informed me that the GA Supreme Court has DENIED Fani Willis.
Thank you so much for your love, prayers, and support to my defense fund.
I will repay those that donated after we recover costs from the DA’s office.
Stay Tuned!

President Trump had something to say. Go figure, right?
Some of it had to do with the lives that were purposefully and vindictively ruined by this vile woman’s political weaponization of her office to further her personal egotistical impulses.
Willis might well be found criminally liable for something now that she no longer has the shield of being in charge of the prosecution.
President Trump calls for Fulton County DA Fani Willis to face prison time:
“Fani Willis is a criminal. She should be prosecuted for what she did to innocent people, patriots, that love our country.”

What is it with these incompetent, malicious, mendacious, grandstanding female DAs?

Now the betting is that the RICO case dies, as it was built on shakier ground than even Tish James’ New York fantasy, but who knows.
What happens to Willis from here is also another question, as her expenditures with loverboy Nate were not all above board.
Fani also has to worry about one Ashleigh Merchant, still hot on the trail of Fani’s evil doing.
It ain’t over ’til it’s over, but this is a giant step towards dropping the curtain.
