NOVAK DJOKOVIC has pulled out of the Miami Open – and will miss out on the chance to bank another $1.1million.
The world No3 is a six-time champion in the second leg of the Sunshine Double after Indian Wells.
He even reached the final in 2025 on his first appearance at the tournament – now staged at the Hard Rock Stadium – for six years.
But the Serb, 38, will once again sit out of the second Masters 1000 event of the year.
Djokovic, who has massively reduced his schedule in recent years to peak for the Grand Slams, withdrew from the upcoming edition citing a shoulder injury.
And that means he is guaranteed to lose the 650 points he picked up a year ago on his run to the final, where he lost to Jakub Mensik.
The all-time great is at risk of losing his podium spot on the tennis rankings with Alexander Zverev close behind.
It also means Djokovic cannot compete for the whopping $1.1m (£830k) prize pot for the champion – although he has already made £145m on the court during his illustrious career.
The Miami Open holds a special place in the Olympic gold medallist’s heart.
He won the first of his record 40 Masters titles in Florida all the way back in 2007, before adding back-to-back crowns in 2011 and 2012.

Then in 2014, 2015 and 2016, Djokovic managed to complete a hat-trick of the rare Sunshine Double.
Ironically, he has not reigned in Indian Wells or Miami since.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion reached the fourth round in the Californian desert.
But he was knocked out after an epic and exhausting battle against Britain’s Jack Draper.
The draw for the 2026 Miami Open takes place on Monday before the action gets underway on Tuesday.
