FAMILY members of the assassinated Iranian military commander, Qasem Soleimani, have been arrested by ICE in Los Angeles.
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter’s green cards were revoked by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday, leading to their detention.
Rubio confirmed that the pair – the niece and grand-niece of Soleimani – will be deported in the first available opportunity after celebrating the death of US soldiers in the war.
“Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States,” he said.
‘Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani.
“She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the ‘Great Satan.’
“This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter’s legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States.
“The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.”
Until US forces killed him in 2020, Soleimani was hailed as “the single most powerful operative in the Middle East.”
He was the commander of the Quds Force, an IRGC division responsible for clandestine military missions, and played a key role in the Syrian Civil War.
