Nicolas Jackson completes Bayern Munich loan transfer from Chelsea at second attempt after deal initially blocked

NICOLAS JACKSON has sealed a move away from Chelsea after the club agreed a £14million loan fee with Bayern Munich just in time before the transfer window shut.

The Senegalese striker had been camped in a hotel in Munich, pushing hard to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge barely a year after signing a contract extension.

Jackson was demoted from Chelsea’s first-choice striker to third choice following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Pedro, in particular, has been sensational, scoring five goals in his first five starts for the club a run of form that forced Chelsea to rethink their attacking setup.

His emergence meant the Blues were open to letting Jackson leave and a deal with Bayern Munich was initially agreed.

However, an injury to Liam Delap during the game against Fulham led Chelsea to inform the German club they were cancelling the loan deal.

SunSport understands the player was informed of the situation before landing in Munich but he did everything possible to ensure the deal went through.

The two clubs and the player’s agents Ali Barat and Diomansy Kamara had to work all night to agree a new deal with new terms with Barat slamining Chelsea treatment of his client.

Both Bayern and Chelsea have now granted his wish, agreeing on a loan deal with an obligation to buy that takes the whole package to £70million.

He will now link up with manager Vincent Kompany who had previously tried to sign him during his time at Anderlecht.

But both parties will now be relieved to have pushed the deal over the line before the window closed.

Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson in 2022 for a fee in the region of £32million.

He went on to score 24 goals in 64 league appearances but saw his stock fall sharply after being sent off twice in his last four matches for the club.

One of those red cards came at Newcastle while Chelsea were chasing a Champions League spot and the other was in the Club World Cup semi-final against Flamengo, which led to him being benched for the final against PSG, a match Chelsea won against all odds.
