Wins in midweek for Newcastle and Chelsea saw both qualify for the Carabao Cup last four.

Chelsea were able to rest their full team at League One Cardiff but did need a couple of late goals to progress in the end.
Enzo Maresca appears to have one or two questions to answer at present after a recent four-game winless run but do find themselves heading into this Premier League weekend in fourth spot.
The issue will come if they don’t win here, with four sides all just two points behind them going into the weekend and things might not look as rosy as they did.
Eddie Howe himself has faced a little bit of criticism and probably rightly so for the sluggish start to the season for Newcastle in the league.
They’re 12th at present after last weekend’s dreadful performance in the derby against Sunderland, with the standard of that game likely the worst the league will see this season.
Bruno Guimaraes came out and slammed the performance on their travels as has been the issue this season, though are back in front of their own fans having won eight of the last nine at St James’ Park, with only a draw against Tottenham blotting that record.
Chelsea last won here back in 2021 and lost in the league and cup at SJP last season.

You can’t ignore that terrific home record Newcastle have, probably coupled with the struggles Chelsea have on the road.
They’ve only won two of their last six away from Stamford Bridge, which were games at Cardiff and toiling Burnley.
The Toon have a good record over the Blues here too and no reason why that won’t continue here to just up that pressure on Maresca.
