Newcastle stars ‘divided’ over Alexander Isak as Bruno Guimaraes posts ‘perfect response’ after bombshell statement

NEWCASTLE stars are divided over the Alexander Isak saga, according to reports.

But club captain Bruno Guimaraes seemingly made his feelings clear with an opportune Instagram post.

Isak has gone on strike to force a move to Liverpool, but Newcastle are refusing to sell him.

The striker released a bombshell statement last night, claiming “when promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue”.

Newcastle hit back with their own statement and stood firm on the decision not to cash-in – even offering him a route back to Eddie Howe’s side.

During the latest episode of the saga, Guimaraes took to social media and posted a picture of himself wearing a Toon shirt with no caption.

Fans took it as showing his commitment to the club, with one saying: “That’s why Bruno is a club legend, that man cares more than anyone and has always been proud to wear the badge.”

Another added: “No words needed. The perfect response from the perfect professional.”

A third wrote: “Bruno showing that a club will always be bigger than any individual player. This is what you call a statement and being united.”

However, reports from the Daily Mail claim the way Isak has handled his exit has led to a “divide” in the Newcastle squad.

Team spirit is said to be strong but some in the dressing room understand his move, while others do not.

Though many inside the club are baffled by Isak’s claim of broken promises.

‘That bothers me’ – Jamie Carragher tells Liverpool NOT to sign £150million Alexander Isak from Newcastle

The Swede believes he was promised a pay rise and new contract by the club’s former co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

But once they departed, the offer did not materialise and ex-sporting director Paul Mitchell pulled the plug on talks.

There has also been suggestions that Isak feels lied to from a sporting standpoint.

He thought more would be spent on new signings and infrastructure at the club to help them push for the title.

Isak’s full statement read: “I’m proud to be recognised by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the season for 2024-25.

“First and foremost I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way.

“I’m not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn’t feel right to be there.

“I’ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.

“The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time.

“To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.

“When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.

“That’s where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”
