NEWCASTLE ace Harvey Barnes refused to rule out a nationality switch from England to Scotland.
Barnes, 27, already counts one cap with the Three Lions, which took place back in 2020 during an international friendly with Wales.
The winger helped the English national team pick up a 3-0 win at Wembley as a second-half substitute.
However, the versatile forward qualifies for Scotland through his grandparents.
And under Fifa rules, Barnes is able to switch allegiances due to there being more than a three-year gap between his last England appearance and the Tartan Army’s next match.
Scotland punched their ticket to the 2026 World Cup following a dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark on Tuesday at Hampden Park that saw them topping their qualifying group.
Barnes congratulated Steve Clarke’s men and admitted the possibility of a switch is not “closed off”.
Nevertheless, the Newcastle ace added there have been no talks or progress in terms of him playing for Scotland any time soon.
Barnes told Sky Sports: “It’s not something I’ve really spoken about or put thought into recently.
“There’s always been talk about it and a while ago there was bits and bobs about it. But recently it’s not cropped up.

“It was great to see them win and get through last night, it was a crazy game, and I’m sure everyone in Scotland enjoyed themselves.
“Is it closed off? No, of course it’s not.
“I’ve obviously played for England and I know the eligibility side of it is still there so it’s hard to say either way but there’s been no real chats or progression in that sense.”
