NEWCASTLE were forced to issue a grovelling apology to fans following their defeat to Atletico Madrid.
The Magpies hosted the Spanish giants at St James’ Park in their final pre-season friendly.
Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann scored in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory for Diego Simeone’s side.
But Toon supporters not in attendance at the game were left frustrated when the stream crashed.
Plenty took to social media to blast the technology.
One said: “Only Newcastle could charge £7 for a stream for it not to work.”
Another fumed: “Anyone else’s stream of the Newcastle vs Atletico Madrid match just cut off. Raging after I’ve paid to watch the match. Classic NUFC website.”
A third raged: “Nothing going right for Newcastle this summer.”
A fourth moaned: “The club is falling apart.”
And a final joked: “Nice of Newcastle United to not want us to go through any more pain so shit down the stream.”

Following the defeat, Newcastle took to X to say a desperate sorry to their dejected followers.
And they confirmed those who stumped up the cash would get it back.
Newcastle said: “We apologise for the technical issues with today’s live stream.
“Those affected will be refunded the value of the match.”
But plenty quipped back that they can keep the money and put it towards signing some more players before the transfer window closes after missing out on a string of targets including Benjamin Sesko.
Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign next Saturday with the lunchtime kick-off away at Aston Villa.
However, Eddie Howe will be sweating on the fitness of star man Anthony Gordon after he limped off in worrying scenes.
