New Terry’s Chocolate Orange flavour launched ahead of Christmas but shoppers are divided

TERRY’S Chocolate has stirred up a debate with the launch of its brand-new flavour – just in time for Christmas.

Famous for its classic Chocolate Orange, the brand’s latest creation ditches the zesty orange flavour in favour of a rich caramel twist.

The new flavour is now available at Co-op and Iceland for just £2, but it’s sparked mixed reactions among chocolate lovers.

Fans of the new ball took to social media to rave about the flavour.

One shopper wrote on the NewfoodsUK Facebook page: “I had two of them and I really like this one!”

Another said: “OMG they are so nice, I love them.”

However, not everyone was impressed.

One disappointed customer called it “utterly tasteless”.

Another fumed: “They are horrible, and I was so looking forward to trying it and all.”

The iconic Terry’s Chocolate Orange Milk Ball is a beloved blend of creamy milk chocolate infused with real orange oil.

Wrapped in its signature orange foil, the segments are cleverly crafted to resemble orange slices, adding to its charm.

However, the new Caramel sweet treat lacks the iconic original flavour.

Festive chocolate hits the shelves

Quality Street tubs have already landed on shelves as the countdown to Christmas begins.

The treat-filled tins are a big hit over Christmas and can get pretty cheap when the price war heats up.

Usually, the octagonal tins don’t make an appearance on supermarket shelves until the winter months but recently they have started cropping up as early as June.

They can retail for up to £7 at most retailers but if you are savvy there are chances to nab them for a bargain.

Tesco is currently running an offer where you can pick up a 600g tub of £2.95 but the offer is not available to everyone.

To cash in on the deal you will need to scan your Tesco Clubcard at the till otherwise you’ll have to pay £7.

This offers a saving of £3.05.

Although it’s thought this offer may only be available in certain shops which are clearing stock, plus the best before date may be slightly earlier.

Tesco is selling the same size tubs for £4.50 on Clubcard online.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Chief Consumer Reporter James Flanders reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
