New Strictly dance challenge revealed in show shake up

STRICTLY Come Dancing will feature ANOTHER dance challenge in a show shake up – as five couples count down to the final.

It follows on from the success of the Instant Dance last weekend which saw the celebrities and their pro partners tasked with performing a mystery routine at random, with just seconds to prepare.

This weekend’s nail-biting quarter-final will see the remaining celebrities pay tribute to the West End as Musicals Week returns.

And added to that, the couples are under pressure again in the upcoming episode with what bosses are calling a “high-stakes dance challenge”.

For the next Strictly Come Dancing live show couples are being tasked with a Relay Dance Challenge.

Opening Saturday night’s show, the five-minute spectacular will see each couple take to the dancefloor as part of a high-energy celebration of musicals.

The pairs will be backed by eight additional dancers, and they will dance relay-style.

Keeping in with the theme of Musicals Week, the song that Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin will dance to it is Trip A Little Light Fantastic from Mary Poppins Returns, while Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon’s tune is With A Little Bit Of Luck from My Fair Lady.

George Clarke and Alexis Warr have been given Consider Yourself from Oliver!, and Karen Carney and Carlos Gu’s musical song is Flash Bang Wallop from Half A Sixpence.

Last, but not least, Lewis Cope and Katya Jones will dance to Me Ol’ Bamboo from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

CHALLENGE SUCCESS

This latest challenge is being brought following last weekend’s first ever Instant Challenge success.

The challenge saw each remaining couple given a mystery dance style at random in envelopes from ones they have learnt in the competition so far.

They were then played their accompanying music and – after a frantic dash through wardrobe to select and change into their costumes – each couple had just 10 seconds on the countdown clock to decide exactly how they were going to dance it.

After all six couples had danced for 40 seconds, the Strictly judges ranked them and awarded their extra marks accordingly.

The 15 minute challenge sent fans into an absolute meltdown and begging for it’s return, taking to X one user said: “We need the joyful chaos of the Instant Dance challenge again!”

“I ABSOLUTELY loved that instant dance challenge! What a chaotic, but amazing 15 minutes. Absolutely outstanding,” added another.

A third penned: “That Instant Dance challenge was chaos. Improv is either something you’re great at or you’re not.”

Strictly Come Dancing – Final five

There are just five couples remaining in the competition for this weekend’s quarter final.
