The Great Wall of China will be the starting point before the teams cross through Nepal to India and reach the finish line in Kanniyakumari, some 14,000km away.

The Beeb had to skirt China in 2024 because of travel difficulties still in place since Covid.

Without smart phones or bank cards, the teams must make the trek using only the cost of a plane ticket.

The teams for the new series include sisters Elizabeth and Letitia, brothers Brian and Melvyn, teenage couple Fin and Sioned and mother and son Caroline and Tom.

Race Across the World returns on Wednesday, April 23 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

Fans will watch the teams compete over nine, hour-long episodes.

Meanwhile, last year’s winner Alfie Watts finally paid for his Kobe beef meal – months after winning the reality show.

The 21-year-old took part in the hit BBC series alongside his childhood friend Owen Wood in 2024.

Race Across the World fans watched as the pals travelled over 14,000 kilometres from Sapporo in Japan all the way to Gili in Indonesia.

During the seven-week race Alfie and Owen reached Kobe, where they were treated to a free steak after being stunned at the price, whilst on a limited budged.

The kind gesture left viewers at home touched, as the boys got to try the melt-in-the-mouth grub.
