A NEW Chinese EV that charges in just five minutes has officially landed in Europe and will hit UK stores in just a matter of weeks.
Chinese motor giant BYD is set to make waves with the introduction of its high-end sub brand Denza.
The Denza Z9GT is equipped with the BYD Flash Charging capability which is understood to charge the motor’s battery from 10% to 70% in about five minutes.
BYD claims that the new EV can undergo a near full charge (10 to 97 per cent) in only nine minutes.
The Z9GT is a “shooting-brake” Grand Tourer and will be available on European markets as both a fully electric model and a “Super Hybrid DM”.
It will go on sale in Denza stores in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK in the coming weeks.
It comes as the manufacturer is set to install 300 1500kW chargers in the UK over the next year, reports Autocar.
And those who snap up the EV in the UK will receive a BYD Flash Pass entitling owners to 18 months free charging at the stations.
The 129.49kWh battery in the fully electric version boasts a range of up to 372 miles while the hybrid version can reach a combined range of about 500 miles.
Inside the car is luxurious, boasting “an opera-house entertainment experience” with a bespoke speaker set up designed by French audio partner Devialet that features Dolby Atmos to place sounds precisely around the cabin.
The premium motor is also equipped with a 17.3-inch central screen supported by an additional two screens for the driver and passenger.
In addition is an astonishing augmented-reality head-up display while screens can also be displayed in the doors to help with those tricky blind spots.
Other features also include massage seats, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a 20-speaker immersive audio experience.
It’s set to hit the UK market at around £100,000.
