TV star Jo Hartley has announced her engagement after a romantic proposal from her rarely seen boyfriend Glenn Lee Yeldell.
The Netflix star shared a gallery of pictures from the very traditional and sweet proposal, revealing her beau popped the question during a special evening together.
Captioning the photos, This Is England actress Jo, 53, penned: “Last night was VERY special!
“My wonderful Lee proposed … …. I said YES!
“A beautiful night, filled with sweet surprise. Romance is not dead.
“I Love you @glennleeyeldell.”
The actress, from Oldham, was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from famous friends and co-stars.
Vicky McClure commented: “Ahhh Pickle!!!! Congratulations!!!! So happy for you both!”
Coronation Street’s Kate Robbins added “Wonderful!!!!”
Suranne Jones shared a series of heart emojis, while This Is Us star Chrissy Metz wrote: “Congratulations to you both! We all know what a lucky guy Lee is and clearly very smart to put on ring on it!”
Following the wave of well-wishes, Jo later thanked her followers in another heartfelt post alongside a new photo of herself and Lee.
She wrote: “My fiancé @glennleeyeldell and I would like to say a huge THANKS to you ALL for the kind sweet messages of a CONGRATULATIONS we received on our engagement woo hoo!”
Jo is best known for her two-decade career across film and television, with acclaimed roles in This Is England, After Life, and Eddie the Eagle.
Most recently, she appeared as teacher Mrs. Fenumore in the 2025 Netflix series Adolescence, featuring in episode two of the hit crime drama.
Her breakout role came at age 32, playing Marie in Dead Man’s Shoes, fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming an actress after aspiring to perform since childhood.
Jo who portrayed June on After Life teased that the cast could “definitely do more” with the sitcom in the future.
Speaking at a press event, Jo and her on-screen partner Lenny – played by Tony Clay – opened up on filming the final season.
“I was watching it last night and I was like, ‘We could definitely do more’,” she said.
“I didn’t think about it when I was filming, I just went in and enjoyed the present moment.
“I tried not to think about what was coming or whatever – I tried to just really enjoy and savour it all.”
Jo also added: “I know that we’ll all work with Ricky again, he said it the other night.
“I think he’s finished it at the right time, but I think he could do a Christmas special.”
