The latest series of one of Netflix‘s hit spy thriller has rocketed up the charts thanks to its perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, with fans hailing it the ‘best yet’.
The Night Agent – created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and adapted by the book of the same name by Matthew Quirk – debuted in March 2023.
The show follows a lowly FBI agent named Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who works as a Night Action telephone operator at the White House, manning a phone that is never supposed to ring… unless in dire circumstances.
The first season kicked off with that phone actually ringing – but an unexpected caller is on the other end, a civilian in danger named Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan).
The show was an immediate hit with Netflix viewers, logging a whopping 168.71 million viewing hours in its first week, and securing a Season 2 renewal.
There was little surprise then that after the second series saw millions of viewers tune in within hours, that the show is back with ten more episodes.

Season three looks to be following the trend, with the show already soaring to number three in Netflix’s coveted Top 10 chart in the days after it was release.
Early reviews of the show have seen it score 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 85% audience score – a big jump up from 39% for its second series.
Taking to the reviews section of the site, one viewer penned, according to Metro: ‘Best season yet. Always loved this show. Great entertainment.’
‘Five episodes through and thoroughly enjoying it. It really tightens up after episode 2 and finds it stride and I’m loving some of the new dynamics with the new night agents,’ a second chimed in.
While a third wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘I should be sleep but the new season of The Night Agent is just so good.’
The critics were in agreement with the season fans, as Screenrant wrote: ‘The Night Agent season 3 is the show’s best instalment yet, thanks to a tighter narrative, compelling characters, solid action, and great twists.’
Collider added: ‘By tightening its storytelling, deepening its characters, and delivering deliberate, hard-hitting action sequences, The Night Agent has officially delivered its strongest season yet.’
It comes after leading star Gabriel, 31, opened up on the stunt work in the third series, revealing he was inspired to do all of his own stunts this time around.
He told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘You don’t get to eat the best food, sleep in the most comfortable beds and make a million dollars and then when it comes time to get hit by a guy, say: “No, that could hurt”.

Fans have been binge-watching the first season of The Night Agent on Netflix following the show’s third season premiere
‘You’re paid a lot of money – there should be a feeling of being beholden to the audience.
‘I’m obligated to risk my life for something sick that could live forever on camera. It’s like the quote from Spider-Man: “With great power comes great responsibility”.’
The first season followed Peter as he tried to unravel the conspiracy behind why Rose’s aunt and uncle – two Night Action agents – were murdered.
Last year, The Night Agent achieved a rare feat by landing in the Top 10 twice.
Millions of fans had been tuned into the show’s first season, which too has become a top 10 watch in the US, according to Tudum.
The first season of The Night Agent is currently at number 6 after having spent nine weeks on the top 10 list between 2023 and 2025.
Fans on X revealed one of the main reasons they tuned into the show’s first season right before the second was simply because they forgot the plot.
The Netflix show’s first season debuted at number 7 on its most-watched TV series list and received a 74 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics gave its second season an 82 percent Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes to modest critical acclaim.
‘Season 2 is a little messier, a little more self-serious and at times slower than the satisfying first go-round, but “Night Agent” still delivers,’ critic Kelly Lawler wrote for USA Today.
‘The Night Agent’s second season isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s a genuinely fun ride from start to finish, and I’m already excited for Season 3,’ wrote Erik Kain of Forbes.
However, more than one unimpressed critic criticized the second season’s plotline.
‘To the show’s credit, it doesn’t shy away from portraying American hypocrisy, on both an individual and global-political level, and it understands human desperation,’ critic Nina Metz wrote for the Chicago Tribune.
‘But its concept of what constitutes a threat to American democracy feels stuck in a previous era, as if the threats were all foreign.’
