IT’S been one of the TV sensations of the year – and now Netflix drama Adolescence looks like it’s going to get a real-life “spin-off” courtesy of Louis Theroux.
I can reveal that through his production company Mindhouse, the grand inquisitor is developing a documentary exploring the effect of online misogyny on boys.
It’s the same malign influence explored in the drama, which starred Owen Cooper as teenager Jamie Miller who was jailed for murdering a schoolgirl, devastating his dad Eddie, played by Stephen Graham.
Filming of the as-yet-untitled show has begun and will it will likely air on Netflix but probably not until next year.
A TV insider said: “It makes sense to produce a documentary looking at this deeply uncomfortable area, particularly in the wake of the drama which stunned the nation.
“Having someone of Louis’ calibre spearheading it adds to the heft and will keep the subject matter at the forefront of people’s minds.”
The programme will look at the likes of misogynist Andrew Tate and feature Louis talking to UK vlogger HSTikkyTokky — real name Harrison Sullivan, 20.
He refers to women as “things” and “sluts” and last year YouTube suspended him from live videos for what it said was “hateful behaviour”.
Harrison has also posted TikToks with a video of him attempting to get Louis arrested as he tries to interview him on the street — presumably for the documentary.
But Louis won’t struggle to find others using social media to spread hate.
His show is the latest programme being developed by Mindhouse for a variety of broadcasters but this is one of the few that Louis chosen to front personally.
GO ON, JUST TROY ME
TROY DEENEY, Lucy Spraggan, Michaella McCollum, Bimini and Adam Collard will contest tonight’s final of Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins – but the pain is far from over.
Troy gets so furious over an insult to his kids, former SAS interrogator Dilksy feared the ex-Watford striker would take a swing at him.
Troy said: “The interrogator stripped me and put lines through my tattoos of my kids’ names. He was trying to push my buttons. Dilksy said, ‘I thought you were going to hit me’. I was like, ‘The thought did cross my mind!’”
Meanwhile, X Factor star Lucy was enraged at being forced to spend hours in stress positions.
She said: “It’s f***ing horrendous. My feet got so cold and so painful that my stomach started hurting. But I got pain rage and that kept me focussed.”
For Michaella, the interrogation reminded her of her ordeal in Peru, where she was arrested in 2013 for drug-smuggling and served two and a half years in jail.
She said of her TV ordeal: “That was a trigger – interrogation was incredibly difficult. I had to keep reminding myself, ‘This isn’t real’.”
Love Islander Adam admitted: “I’d rather do all those challenges twice than do the interrogation again. It’s mad and it’s a beast, just horrendous.”
Meanwhile drag artist Bimini said: “I was hallucinating. It was a very psychedelic thing going on up in my head. I was basically having a rave in my head!”
HAVE WE NUDES FOR YOU
HERE’S a sneaky peek at the brave, or perhaps simply daft, line-up for this year’s Naked Dating.
The ten-part show, hosted by Rylan, is back with a second outing on Paramount+ from Friday, and the winning couple will take home £50,000.
If you haven’t seen it before, it’s a lot like Love Island, except that all the courtship takes place while the ten contestants are completely starkers.
The participants this time around include a Swansea steelworker by the name of Jordan, who promises he’ll turn the show into one big bonk-a-thon, a car dealer from Essex called Kelsey and salesman Luke who’s already tried his luck on Married at First Sight.
Hopefully you’ll warm to them – as you’ll be seeing an awful lot more of them over the coming weeks.
CORONATION Street has released a trailer teasing what’s coming up on the soap over the next few months.
Appearing regularly this week on ITV, it shows Todd battling further relationship troubles, Brody struggling to stay on the straight and narrow and Carla determined to get hitched.
OL: TRASH TV HELPS ME CHILL
SHE’S played everyone from The Queen to Carol Thatcher, but Olivia Colman’s tastes are far less fancy than you might think.
The Oscar winner has confessed she loves trashy TV – especially nookie-ban reality show Too Hot To Handle, in which the prize pot drops every time a contestant commits a naughty rule breach.
She told the SmartLess podcast: “I really love s**t reality telly.
“Have you seen Too Hot to Handle?
“Oversexed, incredibly hot people on this island told they’re there for a dating show but not allowed to touch each other. They start with a money pot of, like, a hundred grand, and forget there’s a million cameras in this house . . .
“So masturbation is like five grand, a snog two grand. It’s hilarious.”
ANGELL PLAYS IT STRAIGHT
CELEBRITY Big Brother served as a reminder that TV favourite Angellica Bell was married to another kids television host – Michael Underwood.
But she reckons you’d never see them booked together for that married couple vibe – because they act like colleagues when working.
Angellica told me: “What’s interesting about Michael and I is we worked together before we got together.
“So we won’t necessarily have that married couple dynamic. That’s how we met, we worked together.
“We went to Lapland and did links there.
“We did lots of things professionally together before we married.”
Angellica has seen a surge in interest since she celebrated 25 years on the box on Celebrity Big Brother.
