CHARLIE MANBY is enjoying the run of his life at the PDC World Darts Championship, but that’s not the only sport he excels in.
The 20-year-old is into the last 16 at Alexandra Palace after upsetting Ricky Evans 4-2 meaning he is just one win away from securing his pro tour card.
However, footage has emerged on X showcasing what a devastating bowler Manby is in cricket, too.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club shared a video of Manby’s highlights when congratulating him on his victory over Evans and it’s fair to say social media was shocked at how good he is.
One user said: “Needs to pack darts in with looks. Lovely action aswell.”
Another said: “Can he make it down under for last test?”
He has played for Clayton West Cricket Club and his stats over the past few summers are available online.
But with his rise on the development tour, Manby’s focus has been evidently shifting to darts.
The Huddersfield-based bricklayer is guaranteed a £60,000 pay cheque after overcoming Evans at the Worlds and now faces European champion Gian van Veen for a place in the quarter-finals.
Manby saw a meteoric rise earlier this year when he beat Luke Littler’s record of 115.22 on the Winmau Development tour, scoring a whopping 130.70 average after just 47 darts.
Fans are calling him the next Littler, but of course, he’s actually older than the world number one.
Speaking after his victory over Evans, Manby insisted he has nothing to fear when he faces van Veen in the next round, despite only finding four of his 30 double attempts.
He said: “It was frustrating. I should have taken the first set, simple as that.
“I missed doubles, but at first to four there is a lot of time, so I think I recovered well and got my confidence back.”
Van Veen is a two-time world youth champion and he eased into the last 16 with a 4-1 win against Latvia’s Madars Razma.
Manby said: “I like Gian, I like the way he plays, quick and young player.
“He’s doing well but so am I. I’m just waiting for my A-game to come. I’ll be here all the time if my A-game comes.”
