MANCHESTER CITY academy starlet Jadel Katongo has bid an emotional farewell to the club.
The 21-year-old defender was on the brink of sealing a move to Turkish side Kayserispor last week.
Negotiations between City and the Super Lig club have seemingly come to a head, with reports claiming a deal had been reached.
And Katongo has hinted that it is indeed the case with an emotional farewell message to the Etihad faithful on social media.
He wrote on Instagram on Sunday: “After 14 years, my time at Man City has come to an end.
“Thank you to everyone involved.”
Katongo received a slew of well-wishes after confirming his Etihad exit.
Soon-to-be former City team-mate Rico Lewis wrote: “All the best brother.”
Jahmai Simpson-Pusey commented: “All the best, ma bro.”
Nico O’Reilly chimed in: “All the best my brother go smash it.”
Jaden Heskey, the son of former England and Liverpool hitman Emile, said: “All the best bro.”
Katongo spent the duration of the 2023/24 and 24/25 seasons out on loan with League One side Peterborough United.
He’ll leave City having never made a first-team appearance for Pep Guardiola‘s side.
Katongo has represented the club at every other level since joining their Unders-9s over 12 years ago.
He’s a current England Under-20 but could switch allegiances to his father’s native Zambia.
Katongo has expressed an interest in playing for the Chipolopolo but recently declined a call-up to their squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
