IT was the day before her birthday and Carly had hit rock bottom.
Her husband was planning to take her shopping for new clothes – but Carly couldn’t think of anything worse.

She had reached 24 stone and dreaded the idea of trying on outfits – and pretending she liked them when, in reality, she ”didn’t feel good” seeing the reflection in the mirror.
At her heaviest, Carly was a UK size 28 – before her husband stepped in and got her on fat jabs.
”We watched a documentary on GLP-1 and I was very impulsive,” said mum Carly.
According to the TikToker, she then asked her partner if she could get Mounjaro for her birthday instead of new clothes.
”Yeah, of course, are you sure it’s safe?” the husband wondered.
”Being 24 stone isn’t safe, so I’ll say, ‘Yes, I’m doing it’,” Carly shared the life-changing chat which took place almost a year ago.
Mounjaro, which is known as the King Kong of jabs, is said to suppress the appetite, making people feel fuller for longer.
Weight loss injections are licensed for patients with type 2 diabetes and to assist those who are clinically obese – with a Body Mass Index of 30 or over.
It’s since been nine months since Carly (@carlyscurls) started her weight loss journey – and the inspiring mum has already managed to shed more than a staggering 7st.
During this time, Carly has also learnt a few things about the popular jabs – as well as herself.
When it comes to food, the TikToker said ”you can still eat your favourite meals”, which for her is a hearty Sunday roast.
”There’s no need to cut out any foods that you have been told are bad,” she said in a recent video.
According to the parent, who has a seven-year-old son, she’s also finding it a lot easier ”to say no to high-calorie foods’‘, such as sugary cakes and pastries.
”I don’t think about it at all – food noise has disappeared.”
Food cue reactivity, or food noise, refers to the “constant and persistent thoughts” about food, “to the point of feeling as if [subjects’] lives revolved around food,” according to research published in the academic journal Nutrients.
According to the researchers, it can lead to unhealthy eating patterns, including emotional eating.
“It could also contribute to overeating and therefore living with overweight and obesity and developing weight-related complications,” Dr Priya Jaisinghani, an obesity specialist from NYU Langone, US told Health.
What to do if you lose too much weight too quickly whilst on Mounjaro
IF you’re losing too much weight too quickly while on Mounjaro, it’s important to take action to avoid potential health risks like muscle loss, malnutrition, dehydration, and fatigue. Here’s what you can do:
Evaluate Your Caloric Intake
Mounjaro reduces appetite, which can make it easy to eat too little. If you’re losing weight too fast (more than two to three lbs per week after the initial adjustment period), try:
- Tracking your food intake to ensure you’re eating enough calories (apps like MyFitnessPal can help).
- Increasing protein intake to preserve muscle mass (aim for 0.6–1g per pound of body weight).
- Adding healthy fats and complex carbs (e.g., avocados, nuts, whole grains) for balanced energy.
Adjust Your Dosage (With Doctor’s Approval)
If your weight loss is too rapid or causing side effects, your doctor may:
- Pause dose increases or lower your dosage.
- Adjust your treatment plan to stabilise your weight loss.
Strength Training & Exercise
To prevent muscle loss:
- Incorporate resistance training at least two to three times per week.
- Stay active with low-impact exercises like walking or yoga.
Hydrate & Manage Electrolytes
- Drink enough water (Mounjaro can reduce thirst).
- Electrolytes matter – Consider adding magnesium, sodium, and potassium if you feel weak or fatigued.
Monitor for Malnutrition & Deficiencies
Rapid weight loss can cause vitamin/mineral deficiencies (especially B12, iron, and electrolytes). If you experience:
- Fatigue, hair loss, or dizziness, ask your doctor about supplements.
Consider Further Medical Guidance
If your weight loss is excessive or causing health concerns, speak with your healthcare provider.
They might adjust your dosage, diet, or exercise plan to help stabilise your weight loss.
Sharing how the medication overhauled her life, Carly said that before going on Mounjaro, she’d down up to a whopping five lattes every day.
The average calories in a latte typically range from 150 to 200, but can vary widely based on size, milk type, and added sugar – which means Carly was adding an extra 1,000 calories to her daily intake just by this hot drink.
”My tastes have changed a lot – I’ll have one a day now,” she said.
”Cakes are no longer treats. Getting my nails done or a massage, or buying myself a new pair of shies are much better treats,” she continued
Now that a huge chunk of weight has come off, Carly’s health has also improved.
”I have more energy. I try and go out into the nature with the family as much as I can.”
Carly said in her most recent video: ”If your husband bought you Mounjaro, what would you do?
”Is that the biggest insult ever?
”He saved my life for sure,” she said in the inspiring transformation video.
Posted just one day ago, the glow-up has taken the internet by storm, racking up close to 60k views and dozens of comments.
One person said: ”Deffo not an insult he knew you were struggling. That’s the best husband.”
”You did well .. and this journey is about you becoming the best version of yourself… whether he did it has an insult or encouragement.. you turned it into an inspirational story . Well done girlie,”’ someone else thought.
”Nope, he loves you and wants you around for longer,” another chimed in.
