My 4-year-old son hacked half his hair off when I turned my head for a second

A MUM was left despairing after her four-year-old son “hacked off” half his hair with a razor when she briefly took her eyes off him.

Han admitted her little boy decided to get creative when she didn’t have “eyes in the back of my head” and shaved off a strip of hair from the middle of his head.

“If I don’t f**king laugh, I’ll cry.” she said in a video on her TikTok page.

“When I tell you I cannot take my eyes off this child.

“The second I do, s**t goes down.”

The bare strip was so close to the scalp that the mum-of-three was forced to opt for a number zero all over when she took her son to the barbers.

HAIR THIS

My ‘pretty’ son has hair like Haaland… he’s sick of people thinking he’s a girl

And she was so worried that he’d be picked on at school for his dramatic makeover that he was even allowed to wear a hat.

“If I could I would have kept him off until it had all grown back,” she explained.

“But that is not realistic and I know that he thrives at school.

“The teachers have agreed that he can wear his cap to school but I feel more anxious today than I did on his first day of school because I just know that kids are little b**tards and not nice.”

Han also admitted that the image of her son crying when he looked in the mirror at the barbers will stay with her for a long time.

“As funny as it was that he f**ked around with the clippers he is now left with the aftermath of the bad decision he made,” she said.

“I suppose it’s a learning curve and he won’t do it again.”

Han soon found herself supported in the comments section of the TikTok as other parents said they’d experienced the same situation themselves.

“My daughter did it the night before her school photos,” one wrote.

“My four-year-old granddaughter has just cut off her two year-old sister’s hair,” another sighed.

“She’s got a mullet!”

“My son did this (luckily during Covid),” a third revealed.

Hair re-growth FAQs

Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.

How long does it take for hair to grow back?

Hair grows, on average, half an inch a month. You cannot speed this up.

Do rosemary oil and scalp massages work?

Oils do not promote hair growth. In terms of rosemary oil, the current trend stems from one small study carried out on 50 men in 2015. No women were involved, and the study compared the effects of 2 per cent minoxidil to Rosemary oil. 2 per cent minoxidil doesn’t do much for
male pattern hair loss anyway, so the results were not very impressive.  Oils do serve a purpose in conditioning hair treatments though. They help add shine and smooth the hair cuticle to lock-in moisture and improve combability.  Scalp massages alone won’t cure hair loss, but it can help relax you, aid in lymphatic drainage, exfoliate and help topicals penetrate.

Are there any products or foods/vitamins you recommend someone using or eating to help with hair regrowth?

To support healthy hair regrowth, if you are experiencing hair thinning we’d recommend our Density Preserving Scalp Drops clinically proven to help slow hair loss with continued daily use within three months.

Telogen effluvium (hair shedding) due to nutritional deficiencies can often be simply treated with changes to your diet, and nutritional supplements such as our specially formulated Density Healthy Hair Complex and Density Amino Acid Booster.

Iron and Ferritin (stored iron) in red meat, dried apricots and dark, leafy greens. Vitamin B12 in animal products and fortified plant-based foods. Protein from oily fish, lean meat, cottage cheese, tofu, nuts, chickpeas, and beans.

However, there may be an underlying cause for their hair loss and rather than this being masked by using an off-the-shelf product, they should be encouraged to seek the advice of a specialist such as a Trichologist.

“I was so p**sed off I shaved his head… he looked ILL!”
