A MUM has been left stunned after a dress she bought on Vinted turned up in a takeaway box.
Sophie nabbed a bargain on the selling site, and was excited for it to arrive.
But when it did, she couldn’t believe the way the seller had packaged it up.
She took to her TikTok page to share the hilarious situation, as she began: “I love vintage but I’ve just picked up a parcel and it’s been delivered in a takeaway box.
“It’s a dress. That’s brilliant!”
She covered up her address as she giggled: “It’s literally in a Chinese takeaway box!”
Sophie concluded her video by asking people what the “weirdest thing” they’ve ever had a Vinted parcel delivered in.
“Because this is by far the weirdest thing I’ve had delivered!” she said.
And people in the comments section didn’t disappoint with their own tales of hilarious Vinted packaging.
“A Subway wrapper,” one wrote.
“Honestly I could still smell the herbs & cheese!”
“I had a dress delivered in a Greggs sausage roll paper bag,” another added.
“I saw a parcel in my local shop that was in a clear sandwich bag,” a third admitted.
“Sainsbury’s bag but it was just tied in a knot, no tape what so ever,” someone else said.
“Tampax box!” another sighed.
“I had shoes delivered in a Creme Egg Easter egg box still with bits of the egg inside,” someone else sighed.
While others insisted the takeaway box was a “genius” way to package up Vinted items.
“Very resourceful if you ask me!” one wrote.
Do you need to pay tax on items sold on Vinted?
QUICK facts on tax from the team at Vinted…
- The only time that an item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is profit (sells for more than you paid for it). Even then, you can use your capital gains tax-free allowance of £3,000 to offset it.
- Generally, only business sellers trading for profit (buying goods with the purpose of selling for more than they paid for them) might need to pay tax. Business sellers who trade for profit can use a tax-free allowance of £1,000, which has been in place since 2017.

“Honestly, I’d pack it like this if I had nothing else,” another added.
“That’s actually a good idea I have loads of them,” a third commented.
“I mean, it’s not a fail, it’s genius!” someone else laughed.
