WE are officially entering Christmas week – the children are off school, you may have family arriving to stay, and your husband is off work.
While it’s great to have everyone back together, it can feel like mission impossible to hide the presents, especially if space is already tight.
As it’s the final weekend before Christmas 2025, statistics suggest millions are in “peak wrapping mode” right now.
One mum has shared a simple hack that’s been praised as “genius” by other parents.
Sarah, known as @sarahmalyj on TikTok, posted a video that has gone viral, racking up 295.8k views within 24 hours.
In the clip, she asked other parents where their hiding place was, before revealing hers: stashing presents in her travel suitcases, locking them, and putting them away.
“This is your sign to lock your presents in your suitcase,” she said.
This way, the presents take up no extra space, and you’re not risking the children or other family members stumbling across them.
You can also relax knowing the suitcase is physically locked, so if anyone wanted to get into it, they couldn’t.
Perhaps that’s why Sarah’s video gained traction so quickly, with 237 people rushing to the comments to share their thoughts.
Many called the idea “genius”, while others thanked her for the “good idea”.
One wrote: “This is genius.”
A second added: “I’ve done this this year. My children are none the wiser.”
A third laughed: “Been doing that for years.”
Another said: “Why didn’t I think of that? Good idea!”
And someone else commented: “This is what I’ve done for years. Top of the wardrobe – the kids never question it because it’s always there anyway.”
Picking up where Sarah’s suitcase tip left off, there’s another clever idea doing the rounds – and this one saves your back as well as your sanity.
While many of us spend hours hunched on the floor wrestling with paper and tape, mum Claire Lee has shown a way to wrap gifts in seconds without bending over.
In a TikTok clip, she sets up a simple station using an ironing board, a broom and two coat hangers.
She threads one hanger through the end of the ironing board, slides the broom handle through the hanger, then feeds a roll of wrapping paper onto the broom.
To hold everything steady, she secures the second hanger through the other end of the ironing board and over the broom, so the roll is suspended and the paper unravels smoothly across the board, creating a comfortable waist‑height wrapping surface.
Claire keeps scissors and a tape dispenser within easy reach, and notes that ironing boards are adjustable, so you can sit down and wrap from the sofa if you prefer.
Her video on @claire.lee44 has exploded, racking up over 7.3 million views and 459k likes.
Viewers were thrilled, with one saying, “I’m not using my brain to its full capacity,” another adding, “This woman deserves a medal! That’s otherworldly thinking!” and a third declaring, “This needs to be the most viral video of 2025. Genius!”
