SKY SPORTS NEWS presenter Eleanor Roper has surprised fans by announcing that she is leaving the channel.

The journalist has revealed in an emotional post on Instagram that Friday was her last day in the role.

She uploaded multiple snaps of highlights from her time on screen with the channel, alongside a heartfelt message.

She described her time with the channel as “the opportunity of a lifetime” in a post to her 25,000 followers on the platform.

But fans need not worry about missing the presenter as she already has a new job lined up to bring her back to Sky Sports screens.

Roper is leaving the role to take up a new one with the broadcaster.

In the post’s caption, she excitedly announced that she was joining the team at Sky Sports Football.

As emotional as her goodbye post was, the tone of the comments was one of congratulations at Roper moving on to her new role.

Several fellow Sky Sports presenters provided their well wishes in the comments of the post.

Roper first joined the Sky Sports team in 2022, and has since covered news from across football, rugby, boxing and more.

She will naturally focus on football in her new role, and is jumping in at the deep end as we prepare to enter the busy festive period of fixtures.
